zoso Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 I completed the Uclan course (BEng) 2 years ago... And on Monday I start on an MSc at Cranfield, Motorsports Engineering and Management.. Studying what you love makes life so much easier! Quote
windy Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 You could always do the course as a mature student? On the face of it sounds very interesting but the motorsport industry is just as badly paid as the rest of the engineering careers in this country & you'll work hellishly long hours if you work for anyone else. I think if you want to go into engineering, anything you learn has to come with some business studies as part of the course, to enable you to set up on your own. That's the only way of having a chance of making money I reckon Quote

I think if you want to go into engineering, anything you learn has to come with some business studies as part of the course, to enable you to set up on your own. That's the only way of having a chance of making money I reckon There are about half a dozen or more Motorsports courses in the uk to pick from. Most are thinly desguised automotive courses though, which put me off alot of them... I agree with Windy though, an element of business studies is a good thing, if only to help you spot when something serious is wrong with where you're working! Most uni's will offer extra short courses on starting your own business and some even offer funding help and other support (premises etc). There were a large number of mature students on my course, not so many on the masters though. Quote
swilding Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 I still think that a mechanical/aeronautical engineering degree will stand you a better chance of a job in top level motorsport though. Quote
