a4drk Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Got caught speeding the other day in N.I. doing 42 in a 30. I thought it was a 40, but hey ho..... the policeman said to me that the laws are different & that they would not count back home. I'm currently on 9 points, so he'd better be right. can anyone verify this? David Quote
pistonbroke Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Can't help with verification , but who would believe a copper Quote
Stuart Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Google is your friend. Ministers move to close points loophole Points accumulated by motorists in Northern Ireland do not count in Britain, so they can amass nine there and nine more on the mainland without punishment. Motorists with 12 points in the UK can be banned. Transport Secretary Stephen Ladyman said the loophole was "unacceptable". Quote
Nick A Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Isn't Northern Ireland part of the uk, i always thought it was ? Quote
