darthurs Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Big thanks to Neil for arranging/kicking off this bulk buy. I have just picked up my dash and it is a really well made piece of kit. The packaging is also very impressive. Thanks Neil Dan Quote

DavidC Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Mine's here I've got my weekend sorted now What's the neatest way to connect the single 'switch common' flylead to all four buttons? Is it just a case of solder and heatshrink? Quote
neilb Posted October 12, 2007 Author Posted October 12, 2007 Glad that they are with you all OK, would be interested in seeing some pictures of your working systems. Cheers Neil Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Is there a price for a DL1 on its own buried somewhere in this little lot? Maybe interested Quote
neilb Posted October 12, 2007 Author Posted October 12, 2007 losing your memory Neil John Race Technology are doing an offer on the Dash2 and DL1 combined for £800 + VAT (normal they are £500 each). I can give WSCC members discount for one offs but not 20% If people are interested in the DL1 on it's own I should be able sort another group by. Any questions give me a call - 01254 235212 or 07816679121 Cheers Neil Quote
DavidC Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Well I've had a good day working on the westy http://s55.photobucket.com/albums....059.flv I just need to make up the bracket tomorrow and then get to work on seriously tidying up the wiring behind that dash. The only two connections that I haven't made are the headlights and the foglight. Now, obviously I can just connect up to the bulb feed for any of the instruments for the lights, but do I need to bother with the Fog light feed as my switch has a light built in? Quote
DavidC Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Yep, but it's only temporarily fitted. I need to make up a bracket this week but other than that The sidelight input on Conn2, is that just to control the back light? Also, when connceting the Dash2 to a PC via the serial lead, does the dash need to be connected to the car's loom for power, or can I connect it to a PC away from the car? Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Unless recently changed, the Dash 2 doesn't take any power from the serial connection, so you do need a separate power source. Any yes, the sidelight connection does just dip the LEDs intensity for night time use. Quote
DavidC Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Does that mean that the display is backlit at all times and only the LED brightness is chaged? Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Yep, though in sun light the blue of the back light is fairly subtle. Quote
