John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 I didnt realise people still bought AVOs in this day and age Quote
Asterix Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 1st post was wrong, 2nd post was right. We're human, we make mistokes*, we move on. Not a big deal unless there's more news. *intentional Quote
Rob Navin Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Not good but I'm sure the will take the bump and then rebound from it ! Sorry Just had a set for the new rally car as they are well thourght off in formula 1000. Hope they dony go wrong now though Quote
stu999 Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Poo. My Avo's were hopefully going back to be serviced this winter P'raps I might just put the extra money on what the combined rebuild fee would of been, buy some Protechs instead, and put me AVO's on Ebay Quote
stu999 Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Tell me its a wind up How many clicks? Quote
gee_fin Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Meh, P**s poor reply from a PR point of view there of course but personally I think the attitude shown in reference to a £40, eight year old shock absorber is just as astonishing. Quote
MAT1800 Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Just wondering... Got a mate, yeah He's recently got a new set of AVO's less than 6 months old, and noticed on the last track day, that the adjuster knob on one of them was stuck solid, and has been unable to move it... Can this ermmmm. be fixed at home, or is it a send off for repair jobbie?? I seem to remember reading something on here about a similar problem but can't find it. Quote
moomin Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 It's also a shame that a friend of mine had a similar response from Nitron... £800+ set of shocks, about 5 years old, no longer supported moomin Quote
DanB Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Indeed. 'twas me that Moomin refers to. Had an 800 quid set of Nitron NTX dampers, which fell apart as I was winding the spring seats up when a weld failed. According to Guy Evans at Nitron they don't service those dampers any more (the ones that are fitted to a lot of Westies) so if they fall apart like mine did, that's just too bad. It's not just AVO... Oh, and for the record, the e-mails I got from Guy Evans made AVO's response seem like a model of good PR. More details on my site at www.danstuff.info Quote
pete g Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 not good news .seems more and more companies dont give good aftersale support.they only interested in selling new.[understandable in this throw away world] but very short sighted .if you give good customer support your custumer will be happy and come back and buy more in the future. i have to say, i send one of my prorace dampers back to AVO last year just out of guarantee and they repaired free of charge. plus was helpful in sending me top extensions so i could use my older dampers with the new wide track set up. CedricTheBrave Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I have the same issue with my Nitron's no longer supported etc etc I made the decision a while ago not to buy Nitrons again due to this as I believe that when you spend £800 on a set of dampers this should include some form of comfort factor that you will be able to get them seviced etc I will be buying some less expensive ones in future and when they need servicing they will be replaced. Agree with you as well Gra Quote
