Mark Stanton Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Congratulations and well done to WSCC members and Speed Series Drivers Ian Stinton and Neil Clark on completing the 24 hour Britcar Race at Silverstone on 8 & 9 September Great weekend - now very tired, stink of petrol but a fantastic event and team spirit - Well Done Ian, Neil, Pete & Russ, Phil, Lester, Jonny, Mark, Big Fish, Mr G and the cook Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Where did they finish Mark? Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Great to hear they finished the race, that's half the battle with a 24 hours race Sounds like you all had a cracking if tiring time, some good rest needed no doubt Quote
GSi Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 What car were they in? I was there with EMC Motorsport taking photos for them. EMC finished 3rd and 4th in class, 18th/19th overall Fantastic experience and b****y knackering! Quote
Rob Navin Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 I was also there again running Team Thrursh in the integra. Had a fantastic event running first in class and around 12th over all for the fist 22 hours We eventually ended up 21st overall and second in class after having trouble sorting out a crank sensor and loosing our half hour class lead. Still we were a place higher in class than last year and apart from the crank sensor we never had an issue and beat the top gear crew Looks like the integra is now up for sale and a trick BTCC style Civic is on the cards. See you all back there next year !!! Quote
Rob Navin Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 I still think you should have done the last stint Mark ! Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 10, 2007 Author Posted September 10, 2007 Car was a Prosport - Car No 3 - Team Solutions finished 40 something overall (with a couple of WSCC stickers on it) The silver one run in trackday last Friday at Ty Croes Was very tiring but a fantastic weekend 2 driveshafts, 3 coils, silencer change, exhaust manifold, fuelling problems, front wheel rim + a few odds and ends - nothing major such as engine swaps like others around garage 10b - car ran a best lap of 2mins 4 secs (I think) and put some consistent times in, just the niggly problems meant pit stops. Rob - skid lid and overalls were ready but somehow Stint wasn't prepared to do a deal on anyone else taking the chequered flag Quote
nobbyc Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Stinty's always up for a deal, but we couldn't afford to lose you from the petrol pump!Again a big thanks to you,Mother,Ray,Big Fish and Roland for all your efforts in getting us to the end Neil and Ian Team Solutions Quote
GSi Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Car was a Prosport - Car No 3 - Team Solutions finished 40 something overall (with a couple of WSCC stickers on it) The silver one run in trackday last Friday at Ty Croes um? the EERC lists it as not classified after 243:47.626... did it fail to finish the final lap after the Z4MC?? if it did, might be worth having a word with the EERC Quote
stever Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Always someone trying to P**s on yer chips ! Well done anyway to Team Solutions - and Navsport. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 10, 2007 Author Posted September 10, 2007 QUOTE did it fail to finish the final lap after the Z4MC?? if it did, might be worth having a word with the EERC The car b****y well did finish the lap after the Z4 and saw the chequered flag there's a few folks who might thump someone at the EERC if not classified Quote
GSi Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Didn't think they'd be too happy! It's on the EERC website/pdf results... still provisional, so might be worth mentioning before it gets finalised! Got some pics of it - will post them when they're done Quote
Marty Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 I was timekeeping/pit wall for car 16, the TVR Sagaris. What a weekend. First fire on Friday night that took hours to clean up then one of the 'drivers?!' who will remain nameless (Stuart) put it in the wall on an outlap on fresh rubber! However, it was its first outing and did post a 1:57 lap so well on the pace. And I got to sleep on Saturday night. Marty Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 10, 2007 Author Posted September 10, 2007 Was that the Dewalt segaris cos there was a reet dangler-up me and Big fish had just finished re-fuelling when it pulled into fuel lane with no crew team around Big Fish then said to a marshal "scuse me but I think that cars on fire" and it was a marshal then grabbed an extinguisher which went phut - cos it was empty - Fish looked at me and I said for gods sake don't use ours else we won't have one for the race Marshals finally managed to find a couple of extinguishers that worked and put fire out As we were walking away from the fuel bay in came the Team Crew for the car Quote
Marty Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Yes it was. Not the only dangler up either. The marshals have a job to do but they did over-react somewhat to the fire and emptied three extinguishers into it. The fire was caused by adhesive on some heat shielding catching fire which was added as the coils are so close to the exhausts and were getting rather hot. Luckily the only damage was to two plug leads so we replaced all the coils on one side. It was the first outing and has proved quick although there are a few items needing a rethink - as well as rebuilding the front end after the shunt. It will be back! Quote
