Hi,

I have a problem with my desktop using Windows xp.

I have noiced that some web sites you visit you cannot click on links,it comes up with a javascript error on the bottom left of the screen, just where it displays done when the page is loaded.

Also on autotrader it will not let you search for cars, the search boxes are missing,Various other sites as well.

I have checked java is turned on,is there something i have missed?

It is now doing my head in!!

TIA

can you use a windows restore to go back to around 5 weeks ago?*

This is usually due to firewall / browser security settings.

Usually browser security settings. If you look at the settings especially script execution and pay attention to the ones that say do not execute and no prompt. I would change to say prompt and that way you can decide if you want to execute the script. You could always create a new zone which lower security/custom security settings and add the sites you trust to this zone.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your replys, just to let you know what i have tried since yesterday.

Checked the settings for custom levels on internet options on my laptop match the desktop for java.

Turned off windows firewall, still no joy, also noticed that when i click start then search, screen is blank.

I have recently deleted norton and installed avg,see my last thread/post but this was apparent before i did this.

TIA

Java is NOT the same thing as JavaScript. You need to change settings for scripts instead(or ActiveX objects + scripts maybe ? )

Firewall should not the be the problem.
