guess your cheque book is coming out then  :D  :D  :D

How can you be sure that the difference is all down to the fact it has a Dunnel engine?

Surely the only way to be certain of that would be to have two identical cars with the same fueling set up, same gearing, same suspension and brake set up, one with the standard engine and one with the Dunnel??

I'm not knocking the engines in any way, just thinking that maybe the difference in performance could be equalised a bit by making sure all of the other bits are working to the max.

Agree with what Sir Greg said. ACW made a monkey of me in a 1.6 Toyota engined Westfield a few years ago, despite me having a pretty hot atmo cosworth in the front of mine. The difference is, he can drive...

ACW??

A Complete W***er then ......... :D  :p

Er, that'll be ACW, our illustrious webmaster...

Yeah, but under your breath..... at the time?? Be honest now......  :p  :D

Nah, I knew he was quick. It was at a pretty scary hill too, so I was respectful rather than resentful... :t-up:

I know Mark carried more corner speed than me out of the bend but that was just a complete power pass and then he just went. It would have done the same if it were a drag race. Bet there must be 50+ horses between them.

Come on Gavin - what you really want is a 1.6 Zetec SE  :D

When Mark took us out round Donnington I was massively impressed with that car, the BGH gearbox will make some difference as well I imagine.

If the cap gave the go ahead I know who I'd be on the blower to right now! :D

Engines apart ( and I'm a fan of Dunell ) if he can carry more corner speed than you do , then his speed down the next straight will also be  quicker than yours .

It's not all down to horses  :t-up:

Gear ratios can be a huge factor too.   Like wot Greg said, you're not comparing like for like.   Power is nothing without control.

What everybody has said about corner speed etc is right but it's sounds like you've made the decision anyway.

Looking at the video the laptime looks like a 2min6secs; my 1.8 Zetec Westie (~179bhp) managed a 1min 57 sec round Oulton on road tyres so power certainly isn't everything.

Get some instruction - it's much cheaper than a Dunnel Engine and will make you go much faster
