slippy Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Had some joy on the bay of late so got some 'free' ££ sat in my Paypal account and I'm fancying a WIndy gun so any recomendations appreciated Quote
JeffC Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 I bought a cheapy 2 years ago off the bay, gets used every week, its ok but hasnt got the grunt to crack tight wheel nuts everyone seems to use it trackdays and no one complains until I use it last and after 3 people have done two wheel changes I have to use a wheel brace (captain/mark at oulton ) sealey on is very good and used by most the garages/tyre spots I go to without issues, will set you back £170 ish though Quote

Asterix Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 what did you get in the end Slipmeister? Quote
JeffC Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 I recently upgraded to the sealey one I mentioned and its impressive , (£100 brand new from ebay ) had a go with a daddy snap on one last week and they are something else but at a price ( close to £300) Quote
Asterix Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 am I right in thinking the more volts the better, with 24v being the minimum recommended? Quote
JeffC Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 dont think so , my sealy is less voltage than my cheapy but will crack tight nuts think its like a bhp and torque thing more bhp not always better Quote
slippy Posted November 26, 2007 Author Posted November 26, 2007 Torque is the thing to look for and I didn't buy one because Funslob is getting one for Christmas Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Got a Sealey and they are "cracking" the nuts all day long Quote
ChrisG Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Good quality 12v drills like De-Walts are usually more powerful than the cheap 24v ones, so I suspect the same is true with impact wrenches. Like for like obviously a 24v unit will be more powerful though, but you'll pay for the privilege. Quote
