ludo Posted September 5, 2007 Author Posted September 5, 2007 so that too will be much cheaper than the M3 discs!! leaning toward the change everyday a little bit more! I have another 3 trackdays this year, the final one on the 20th of octorber, M3 is for sale on the 21st! Quote
ludo Posted September 6, 2007 Author Posted September 6, 2007 Is it possible to have a VX on a Q-plate "registered" prior to 1982?? if not, what engines could I get? Quote
ChrisG Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 so that too will be much cheaper than the M3 discs!! Yep, unless you can get M3 discs for about £25 which I think is all my last pair of fronts cost Quote
ludo Posted September 6, 2007 Author Posted September 6, 2007 Yep, unless you can get M3 discs for about £25 which I think is all my last pair of fronts cost update: M3 is now for sale A guy here offered me a stuart with a X-flow 1700, unleaded head conversion done for my M3 (I would value the M3 @ £5k) doesnt look like a great deal for me. here is his car: stuart Quote
ChrisG Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Its a Sylva, not a Stuart The Striker is a great handling car and you won't find that many significantly under £5k in the UK (Similar car on Pistonheads for £4650), so considering its already registered in France and so presumably saves you a lot of time / hassle compared to importing a UK car, Id seriously consider it. ludo Posted September 6, 2007 Author Posted September 6, 2007 not too found of the ford kent though... seems a bit old to me please educate me if i am wrong. I would think that with 150bhp it's at it's top in term of development (while maintening reliability). That's what I like with VX or zetec, I could grow with the car, improving it's performance as my driving progress too Quote
ChrisG Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 The Xflow is a bit old-hat but its still a "fun" engine to use in anger, makes a nice noise and revs OK, and 150bhp will be plenty for a year or two. If at that point you decide you want more though, flog the Xflow engine and do an engine conversion on it, either to a Vx/Zetec/Duratec etc or a bike engine. The only thing is you'd need to check if an engine change causes you issues with registration etc, it wouldnt in the UK but not sure about France? Quote
ludo Posted September 6, 2007 Author Posted September 6, 2007 chris, you're officialy the new guy my GF wants to hate! I asked a bit more about the car to the saler and we'll see then. I'll probably let you know about it as soon as I get infos Quote
