cidersurfer Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 What about after sales? When I had my RX8 the local Mazda garage were superb. All the recalls were done, no quibbling, replacement vehicle, not a problem. Take my Merc to a Mercedes dealership. YMBJ, might as well set fire to a carrier bag full of cash. The local independent runs rings around them! Just my thoughts of course... Quote
Barry Ashcroft Posted August 19, 2007 Author Posted August 19, 2007 Is a valid though, One of my mates is the service manager at the local Mazda dealer so I hope we would be looked after. Quote
neilb Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 You can still use all of the boot on the MX5 when the roof is down, not sure that is true of the Merc Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 MR2 is not made any more. It's her choice she can have what she wants When did they stop making them? Quote
pete g Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 You can still use all of the boot on the MX5 when the roof is down, not sure that is true of the Merc yes you can and its not a bad size. had nine serviced last month no problems. i know what i would rather have .take a test drive and compare. go for the 350 Quote
adamnreeves Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 A friend of mine bought a 200 SLK recently and he regrets his choice apparently too slow for him. I believe its a 1.8 turbo so must very heavy. Nice car apart from that. Maybe go for the 280, 350 whatever is the bigger engine, but then if performance is not important then maybe the 200 is cheaper to run. A few of my friends have mercs and they all comment that servicing is expensive and that they would think twice about going for a merc again due to the high servicing costs. I think the MX5 would be the better proposition due to lower running costs. Quote
V8grunt Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 MX5 Mate, Then in a few years you can turn it in to a Westfield! Quote
Barry Ashcroft Posted August 19, 2007 Author Posted August 19, 2007 Mazda MX5 v Merc SLK video's on youtube Part 1 Part 2 Quote
Eccentric_Rich Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 The Honda S2000 would be top of my list. Admittedly it looks a bit plain from the front but the engine will scream round to 9000rpm and it's also got the legendary Honda VTEC reliability. Richard. Quote
Barry Ashcroft Posted August 19, 2007 Author Posted August 19, 2007 Has to have a folding metal roof Quote
adamnreeves Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Another one to add to your list Barry, Peugeot 307 cc ? its also below 21k. I think this might be a 4 seater, maybe the 207cc. the 207 may be more fun that the SLK and MX5. Quote
Barry Ashcroft Posted August 19, 2007 Author Posted August 19, 2007 307 is 4 seater neighbour has one. How can you say a fwd boring 207 will be more fun than a mx5 2.0i vvt 160bhp diving the rear wheels with a lsd Quote
Al Yupright Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 They are big-time girls cars, but at least you wouldnt worry about her spinning off a wet roundabout! (rudely making assumptions on your wifes driving abilities!) Another vote for the MX5 here btw. Quote
