Cash needed for new projects so I'm offering for sale:

Red top 20XE 2 litre 16 valve engine, which was originally fitted to my Westfield & retained as a spare for the rally car but never used.

Spec as follows:

Engine built using new parts from SBD & run as a road car / sprint / hillclimb car in the speed series. Has excellent low down torque & modest power output ideally suited to a road car running non sticky road tyres

SBD steel rods

Omega 86.25 mm pistons, 11.2:1 CR, revs to 8500 rpm,

Kent 284 Inlet cam, SBD profile

Kent 278 Exhaust cam, SBD profile

Titanium valve caps

Hydraulic followers

SBD Verniers

SBD supplied Pace dry sump pump

Pace dry sump pan with twin scavenges & all associated pipework / pulleys / covers & belt

Aluminium poly vee pulley

Machined & blanked off cam cover

Distributorless mod to back of cylinder head.

Assembled by myself using low mileage donor engine with new standard sized bearings, (crank never reground) & engine never taken apart since original build & a 100% reliable class winner in the speed series.

Cost in parts alone over £4K, open to sensible offers.

If that's the engine Windy was using when he last competed in the SS, it's a corker. It always sounded strong and I don't recall him ever lifting the bonnet. I wouldn't mind it meself...

I have a couple of GM cast 20XE heads, stripped bare with cam caps. I think one of them has bronze guides & tubes in the head for the oil returns, the other a standard one - will dig them out when someone phones to ask. :)
