mhc Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Matt. Your products look very good and are priced accordingly. I can only agree with you on the cost of carbon cloth, and can see the reasoning behind your lay up configeration Good luck for the future. Regards. P.S We just need Norman to extol the virtures of R.I.F (carbon bits) and its almost a full house. Quote
Norman Verona Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Matt and Mick (and everyone else) I'm no expert but Rif's stuff is as good as I've seen. Main thing, for me, is it's light. I haven't seen either of your so cannot compare. But so far he's only done Caterham stuff and hasn't got wings and nosecone yet (in devoplmemt) so it's accademic. Quote
CarbonMods Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 OK, we're still waiting to take the proper pictures of our various cycle wings on a Westfield but I though you might like this picture I did manage to track down of the aero cycle wings in all their glory. If this doesn't show how mint they can look an any car then I don't know what does! Sorry to Chris and his mate who took the photo, I found this on a forum elsewhere and nicked it. I will ask him for permission though 'cause I want to put the image on our site! I'll get the proper pics updated ASAP. Cheers, Matt Quote
rm163603 Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 I would be interested in a set of the aero front wings and the csr type canards. Are the aero wings designed for any particular width of tyre / rims. I have 185s How are we going to do this. Should we have a list and a cut off date? Who is going to organise? I guess Carbon Mods can co-ordinate.... Quote
higgsti Posted July 25, 2007 Author Posted July 25, 2007 all people wishing to participate could either post on here by copying there requiremnts to a list or better still we could leave it all to matt at carbon mods who im sure will keep us all informed as to the totals so your sending payment direct to them rather than a third party .i would be more than happy as the thread starter to take numbers etc and pass details on to matt but id rather payments made direct to carbon mods Quote
CarbonMods Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Hi, Well, the dimensions for the wings are all listed on our website along with a bif of a guide on working out the suitability of different sizes. You don't say whether you're running 13" or 15" wheels so can't comment on the suitability of the diamater but the aero style wings you're talking about are 226mm wide meaning that they would be 40mm wider than your wheels. I'm 99% sure we'll be doing a 205mm version in the next week or two which would be even better suited to your 185's. You can place you order conditionally on the 205mm versions being available if you like. Given the numbers so far I would suggest going for the full 20% off and getting 10 cycle wing purchases (it's not far off now I don't think). All those on the list when it reaches ten will be eligable to 20% off everything we make (so not the perma-grit tools which we don't even make 20% on!), those not on the list are more than welcome to start another one if they would like to arrange a group-buy of their own. Because of the large numbers of wings to make (and the small number of us to make them!) there will be some people who will need to wait longer than others though we'll do our best to get things turned around as quickly as possible. If you let us know when we contact you to arrange the order whether you're in a hurry or not then we'll schedule accordingly. From what I can make out so far (please add or remove yourselves from this list!) Interested (cycle wings): 1. Cam 2. Boney 3. Ritchiea2005 4. Jeff C 5. Connibear 6. Rm163603 Maybe (cycle wings): 1. Bazz24 2. lukeyboy 3. chasmon 4. Gadget Group buys on any other products are fine, anytime, on the same basis but this one's on any cycle wing. As discussed, anyone on the list can have anything else at the same time for 20% off too! Quote
higgsti Posted July 25, 2007 Author Posted July 25, 2007 cycle wings 1. Cam 2. Boney 3. Ritchiea2005 4. Jeff C 5. Connibear 6. Rm163603 7 higgsti definate im sure chris mason is running 13" wheels on his and those looked a good fit Quote
davew Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Would interested in a bulk buy on the dash if enough interest and the price is right. Quote
adam1330 Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 cycle wings 1. Cam 2. Boney 3. Ritchiea2005 4. Jeff C 5. Connibear 6. Rm163603 7 higgsti definate 8. Adam1330(+ CSR Canards) Quote
michaelcoombs Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 I maybe interested in a set of 205 wide CSR type wings if the get made. Quote
lukeyboy Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 What's the difference between interested and maybe? I think I'm a maybe, but I'm not sure..... once I see a few photo's of them installed I'm sure it will make my mind up, I just hate the look of the over sized arches and bare edges Pity you can't just take a mould of the plastic pretend carbon westfield cycle wings, I like their shape Quote
M11 BRD Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Having just spoken to Paul at Carbon Mods (really really helpful) I'm interested in wings (with Road Resist) (will have to confirm size 205 / 225), and CSR Canards Quote
CarbonMods Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 The difference between interested and maybe is the interested people said they would go for a set if the numbers were there and the maybe poeple said they might! As far as I can tell there's 9 people on the list. Photos are being done this morning (our westy owner is coming round for a fit and photo session!) so hopefully that will make the last couple of minds up and we'll be on. All we'll do then is get everyone to email us their order and once we have the 10 emails it's done. We'll arrange payment individually (probably by cheque or paypal invoice) because you'll be paying less than the site proces and then we'll get the stuff out to people. We'll be starting the dash in a week or so. Anyone that buys off us in this bulk buy can have the 20% off the dash when it's available (no promises on timescale!). As for the price of the dash, we'll make it as reasonable as we possibly can, treading the fine line between bargain and bankrupcy! Quote
CarbonMods Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 OK, we got the weather today to take some nice picks of the various cycle wings on a Westfield. It's the new single donar (Mazda) westy and in these photos it's running stock (to be replaced tomorow) 175 section tyres on 13" wheels. In the photos each wing was just rested onto the standard brackets without adjustment to align them. The 175 tyres are slightly too narrow for most of the wings but this should give you a good idea. This car will be fitted with 195 15"s tomorow so we'll get some more pics in the future. The owner went away with a set of the CSR style wings (which did look fantastic) but I think that the traditional wings and track wings also look great, especially if he had slightly wider tyres (the track wings look better the lower the profile too). As stated, these are narrow tyres and just propped on. With a little care they would obviously look even better. Please click here to see the images on our website Quote
