higgsti Posted July 21, 2007 Author Posted July 21, 2007 so matt are you going to do a bulk buy on cannards too.and i will be guine pig too Quote
Chasmon Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Will probably be posting up here soon to get involved in this but just wanted to say in the mean time what a well set-up website CarbonMods is. Refreshing to see some thought into the back ground uses of your products and advice given. Only thing really lacking is the pictures of the wings on cars... BE good to see the pics when you have them. Quote
adam1330 Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Possibly interested in some cycle wings, do you do the modern or aero style in small e.g to fit better over 13" wheels with 185 section tyres on them? I have just changed from 15" 195's, and I think it would look better with narrower wings on it. Also interested in a set of Cannards. Quote
CarbonMods Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Yes, definately can do a bulk buy on the canards too. The same discounts would apply so the prices would be as follows: RRP | 1off | 5off | 10 off Set of 2 small bumper canards 43.95 | 41.75 | 39.55 | 35.16 Set of 2 large bumper canards 59.95 | 56.95 | 53.95 | 47.96 Set of 4 bumper canards 99.95 | 94.95 | 89.95 | 79.96 Nosecone canards (CSR style aero whiskers) 29.95 | 28.45 | 26.95 | 23.96 Thanks for the comments about the website Charlie. It's a big part of our plans for growing the business and getting as much information on there as possible is something we'll be working on a lot. Photos of our products installed in currently a priority and if the weather holds today we should be able to do something about it! Adam, yes, we'll be making a narrow version of the Track and possibly Aero wings in the next week or so for that very reason. You'll probably find that your overall diameter isn't much different though between the 13 and 15 wheels because the 13's tend to have a deeper profile tyre, take a measurement and let me know (sizing guide here). As for the question about the dashboard blank - we don't currently have a mould with the 'ears' but we could make one if the demand was there. Wide bodied or standard? --Matt Quote
conibear Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 If we get enough, I'd be interested in 2 large bumper canards and 2 CSR cycle wings. What are CSR whiskers Quote
CarbonMods Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 'Aero Whiskers' is what Caterham call the nosecone canards that they sell for the CSR. We make some just like those and already have the larger canards that we've been selling for a couple of years so you can take your pick. The size and design are quite different but you'll find photos and templates on our site to give you the idea. Quote
lukeyboy Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 The large traditional wings aren't a close fit to 15" wheels, they're the standard Caterham fit (which is pretty loose) so I wouldn't reccommend them lukeyboy if you're after a tight fit. The modern wings would be MUCH better for a tight fit on 15" wheels (check out the diameter in the sizing chart). The modern wings were designed and sold specificaly to look right on a Westfield. Thanks for the info Matt, to be honest I'm looking for something as close as possible to the existing look I have already (below). Photos would be a great help to your web site (which as someone said already, is very good), I'd be more likely to buy a product on the web if I could see what it looks like in situ P.S. All you need to do now is come up with a mounting system for a mud guard to prevent the stones been flick into the rear arches and your on to a winner Quote
rob iles Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Matt Dash with ears to suit a widebodied please Has anyone got an old dash they can send to Matt for a template as soon as possible Quote
mhc Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Nice to see that a proper company has started to produce 100% carbon parts for the Westfied cars. Not the usuall wet lay up mix of carbon and glass using polyester resin as the matrix. Well done. Higgsti, there might just be intellectual copyright on the dash blank referred to. Best regards. higgsti Posted July 22, 2007 Author Posted July 22, 2007 its an ally one mick not one of your high quality items Quote
adam1330 Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Another quick question, is the road resist thing on all of your wings, or just the modern and trad style? Quote
Gadget Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 I would be interested in a dashboard blank for my narrow bodied SE. Would have to save up a bit longer for a set of CSR mudguards for mine. Could I order some for delivery (and payment on the same terms) in a couple of months? Quote
CarbonMods Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 I've heard fantastic things about your work Mickmade from a few people so i'll keep my eye out for some of it. You're not quite right about our wings though, we do use glass in them (unless people specify100% carbon as the reinforcement) it's just that it's woven E-Glass so it's not obvious. We did sell our cycle wings in two versions, one carbon/glass and one only carbon but the higher price of the carbon only ones meant they didn't sell, especially as they look identical and are only a few percent stiffer. Epoxy as the matrix apart from in a select few products (battery covers and purely cosmetic parts). As for the dashboard, as stated, we don't want to infringe design rights (whether enforcable or not) and would use a pattern as a measurement guide to base our own design on, not as a plug for a mould! Gadget, yes, no problem. We're still saving for the car never mind the accessories! Adam, Road-resist can be added to any of our wings. It does increase the weight so I'd have to get you a figure on that if you're interested and a price too. Off the top of my head I think it adds about £30 (but could save you the cost of replacing wings down the line). The reason for the cost is that it adds 2 extra cycles to the manufacturing including full vac-bagging! Quote
