Segovia...  he was 80 years old but could still light the guitar up .

I suspect you may have been watching Hendrix, not Segovia. Easy mistake to make  :)  ???  :D

I think that once Segovia saw people playing

like this he just lost heart and had no further desire to improve his skill.
