I guess most poeple have a Westfield for the weekend or track days, but I only do two miles a day - thats if I don't bike to work. But does anyone use their Westfield everyday (or there abouts)?

I drive my Westi every day 20miles and back to work in the Summer and even in the winter. It isn't ideal but I love it!

Weather permitting mine is used for the daily commute The only problem is lorry fumes when you get stuck in traffic.

It makes the homeward trip so much more fun than the 306 estate especially when you leave the cap wearing tw*t in the saxo at the lights. Five minutes in the westy and you forget about the sh*t day you had. :D  :D  :D

Drove a Westy Zetec for 11 weeks - every week about 300 miles (since 10 days driving a normal car again).

The weather conditions, noise and comfort were no the biggest issue, the problem for me was shopping or leaving it on a parking.

As for driving in the rain you need some mods to keep it dry inside and be sure to store/park it afterwards inside. Also be aware that rain is drastically reducing roadholding.

The biggest issue on comfort except for the wonderful noise

is the fact that you cannot park your feet if your a little taller so it tends to get uncomfortable on highways.

Last but not least, make sure you exercise getting in and out of the car with the hood on.

I used to use my first Westfield as a daily driver, I did 38,000 miles in 3 years. :D   Then I had to bite the bullet and buy a cheap Mini for the commute as I changed work places and the dreaded A14/M11 featured heavily in the new route, and that was 14 years ago, now the road is so bad I avoid it in the tin top too!

The new Westfield will not be used for daily driving as the routes I now take are not pleasurable except on the very occasional "perfect" day. :bangshead:

I look at the forecast and if I'm failry sure its going to be dry I'll take the Wessie to work. Having a sucure car park is a big help tho!

I drive about 45 miles round trip to work and like to drive the Westfield when the weather is fair. Sometimes I take the motorway (in Germany there is no speed limit unless specifically posted) where I can run it at top speed occasionally (the speedo indicates 190 kilometers per mile. Probablya lie.) But mostly I take the back roads. It takes longer but then the path is the goal.

Some people like to make a big thing out of driving in all sorts of weather, but that's not for me. It is less a matter of comfort that of safety. As already mentioned, these cars just don't hold well in the wet, and they tend to have a lot of torque for their weight. Second, with the hood up, the shoddy wiper wiper system and the constant misting of the windscreen and the side and rear windows, the visibility is so bad that I am happy each time I get home alive.

But then I am a timid soul.

I use mine most days (even wet days, they are quite fun), 20mile round trip, 30-40 if its nice and I take a more scenic route home.

It's either that or the bike and I much prefer the westie to the bike.

Will probably end up getting a tintop for when the snow arrives in the winter, but I want to get my house move sorted before I start thinking about that.

The only prob with westies or any other kit car as we know is the weather, I will always use mine to go to work if the weather is ok but the problem is the forcast ! I got up this morning to clear blue skies and went to work in the westfield (no hood) by hometime it was raining so got wet , still thats the fun init!! at least I could hang the back out and smile!!!!

The first one was used as athe only car, but to be fair the train and friends were pretty essential as well.

24 mile round trip to work and back , used whenever the sun has got his hat on  :)

get caught out occasionally when it decides to rain unexpectedly . I have a tonnue cover and find a crash helmet perfect in the rain .

I wouldnt set out if rain was forcast , get pizzed off cleaning the thing , although the body is easily wiped off its the ruddy wheels , drives me mad having to clean em .

The worst thing is spray from lorries etc especially if there are any puddles about , you can end getting half drowned  :sheep:
