Spring rates for vx in pre Lit

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

my westie is finished now and after a rebuild with vx conversation I have problems with the hight of the springs. The car is to hard. The dampers I've opend with 24click's but that brings no "compfort". I can't drop the springs down regarding the ground clearing of the oil sump and the bellhousing. My thinking is that the springs are going to block when the street is bumpy.

I be sure the spring rate is also not the same for the vx (c20xe) as for the old Lotus TC.

So I need the spring rate for the vx engine in a PreLit, but in a SE will be helpfull also.

So many thanks for your help.

Hi Michael,

Do you know the current poundage of your springs, it's usually written on top (or bottom) of the actual springs.

I had 400lb front and 160lb rear on my old SE ('91) and it handled fine on the roads.

I would think that something around the 350- 400 would be ok though. I'm not sure how it would differ on a pre-lit but it wouldn't be far out I suspect.
