karlos Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Had the SVA this morning, decided to drive up from Plymouth to Exeter which was my 1st real blat, absolutely loved it! The test itself went really well, the examiner was a great guy full of praise for the build quality of Westfields and gave me a lot of positive feedback on my build which was appreciated. It did fail however, but only on 2 points: 1) Brake fluid level warning light, I had no "Test facility to check its operation from the driving position without opening the reservoir" (i.e. the handbrake light didn't work) 2) Brake imbalance at the rear This started off by the test showing that the rear was binding on as it had become seized, so he basically said I couldn't drive it home unless it the binding was sorted. A few hours later and £25 lighter after a garage down the road managed to fit it in and sort the binding he re-tested the brakes but found the imbalance so that was that, at least I was allowed to drive it home. Came back over Dartmoor which is a superb route and had a massive grin on my face even though it failed Rear brakes are now stripped, located the wires necessary for the warning light (just need a switch from Maplin!) So it's all good!! Quote
Barry Ashcroft Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Well done good result for first attempt and an easy fix for the re-test Quote
FW500 Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Really pleased it's an easily sortable pair of issues Karl. If the short blat at AJ's last week was anything to go by, you must have had an awesome time across the moors! Quote

It's great mate, overtaking cars was a shear pleasure, the noise when you floor it's superb Oh yeah... Had it weighed… (I can’t remember the exact figure) but it was only 560ish Kg?!?! Seems rather light to me??! (Live axle, xe, internal side panals, carpet, windscreen, full tank fuel) Quote

chrisinoxford Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Karlos. Were you insured then? as you did not have an SVA on the way there and a fail on the way back? Chris. Quote
karlos Posted June 13, 2007 Author Posted June 13, 2007 Karlos. Were you insured then? as you did not have an SVA on the way there and a fail on the way back? Chris. I'm with Adrian Flux. It's the usual deal with SVA... You can drive it to and from a pre-booked SVA appointment, even if you fail. If you do fail you are then allowed to drive it to and from a garage to get the necessary work done to enable the pass. I just chose the long way home Quote
