homesteady Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Hi Members Her indoors says I can have a Rivnut fitting Kit for my imminent birthday. Have you any suggestions what would be a good buy. Sealey have a kit for about £75 through Toolsn'stuff but I don't know how good it is. Any of you bought one recently? Quote
stu999 Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 The one I bought came from Car Builder Solutions. It comes in a blue box, with a selection of steel rivnuts. Three years down the line, and numerous people borrowing it, and no probs Quote
Symbiotic_Caterpillar Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 I bought one of ameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem" target="_blank">these. I've used it on 6mm steel nivnuts and it worked fine. If you need 8mm rivnuts well then it is of no use to you. Quote

a4gom Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 How do you get the pressure to apply correct to stop crushing of the threadMine came without any instructions Anybody got any? the thread is protected terry, its screwed on to the mandril, its the ali or steel tube between the threaded bit and the flange which sits on top of the hole which is compressed to flare out and hold it in place (made sense to me but I know what I mean) Quote
homesteady Posted June 11, 2007 Author Posted June 11, 2007 Thanks Guys. I'll take a look at Car Builder solutions. Quote
lukeyboy Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Car Builders for me and good quality. Applying the right pressure to the rivnut is normally down to a bit of practice. I once put too much pressure on and ripped all the threads out of an ali one. I also used to fit them with a dab of epoxy on them to make sure they stayed put. Quote
