Jici Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 Dear all, Your comments and experience would be really appreciated on that one: http://www.uxbridgekitcars.co.uk/stock/westfield-ninja.html My budget is a bit short for the usual Megabird, -blade and -busa. The ZX9R is not an "official" Westfield engine and therefore the budget is a little bit lower. Can I have your advice on that ? Thanks a lot ! Quote
higgsti Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 from pics and price seems good buy the kawasaki engine is a good strong engine and popular bike so engine spares are readily available Quote
peterg Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 what he said plus budget £250ish to replace the 'cosmetic' rollbar with an RAC version otherwise looks like an ideal road/track toy now the summer's here (fingers crossed) Quote
Jici Posted June 3, 2007 Author Posted June 3, 2007 thank you guys for your answers. but if the engine is that good what justifies such a lower price ? what are the negative points of that engine option ? thanks for your information Quote
originalgeezer Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 been on sale a while, but not surprising as this was one vehicle amongst others i must say, that i tried to make contact with to discuss by email as calls during office hours are very difficult for me, to which i got absolutely no reply. other than that, nice colour, but cant offer anything more constructive, but if been on sale for a while, bargain away and see if you can get a good deal Quote
higgsti Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 kike the r1 which is also a cracking engine its not supported by the factory ie manifold is different but apart from engine/loom thats the only difference . Quote
Perywinkle Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 Seen bec westies without the usual westy engines go for far less than they are worth for some strange reason, 9r engine is a great lump more power than the blade R1 is going in my Indy Hopefully get it in this weekend after uprating the clutch springs and fitting a sump baffle Quote
lhrbramall Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 I mailed this guy with no reply, so called instead, eventually got a reply. The car's MOT has expired and it needs work done to get it through (only minor from what he told me) but as a result if he does the work then I got the distinct impression no price move! So I opted for a megabird via eBay instead, they're not that far from his price. Quote
ChrisG Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Only real downside of the ZX9 is comparatively low gearing when compared to the R1 / blade etc, which means you really need a 3.14 (expensive) diff, or a 3.38 at a push if you want to retain a decent cruising RPM / top speed and not have huge wheels / tyres on it.
