Which Compressor

Just a thought. There doesn't appear to be a huge amount between them in the motor department (2.5hp vs 3hp) whereas size is the biggest concern levelled against the bigger one. Would it not be possible to standardise on the smaller unit and add extra capacity for those who need it?

This could be achieved by adding a second reservoir perhaps (either within the bulk buy or sourced separately)?

Kevin, I would think that would cost more than the compressor. When I get the prices we'll make a decision. So, for expamle if there's only, say, £30 between them we may as well go for the big one. If it's something like double the price we'll have the smaller. I suspect it will be the latter.

You can buy 3hp compressors with a 50 litre tank. SIP do one if you want the power but don't have space.

Note: I've heard the clarke ones that machine mart sell are a bit noisy & the service backup isn't brilliant.

Have a look at the bigger compressors & see what pumps they are using. Some of the smaller tanks are still fitted with the heavy duty pumps.

Recall there was also a type of pump to steer clear from. Iron bores I think. When they wear they tend to allow oil into the tank - not good for the filters.

Windy, We buy this stuff direct from the manufacturer. We don't have back up service from the provider. Having said that we have had about 1800 items so far and one failure (a burnt out IR charger). Someone reported a wheel missing from the toolbox but I heard no more when I said to send me the bill for a new one/set. So far the jacks that have leaked seem to be from dirt ingress and overpumping.

So, no gaurantee, but less than half price.

You pay your money and take your cjoice.
