Darkspeed Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Anyone have any facts or feelings for the power outputs of the 1.8 Zetec's when installed in a Westie? Webcon/ Alpha and Dunnel both give figures based on the RS1800 / 1.8 with 2.0L cams at a potential 150bhp - fitted with the right bits - exhaust/carbs etc. But nothing on a stock 105. Am I in the ball park for assuming that the 15% increase that Dunnel and Webcon expect should be the same for the 105's and 115's 105 = 125 115 = 132 130 = 150 What I can't find clear detail on is if the 105/115 is actually the same engine just running different ECU map/ throttle body and that a 105 would be expected to make the same power as the 115 with the Dunnel/Alpha ECU and parts. Cheers Andrew Quote
thos Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 The 105/115 are mechanically identical, only difference was Ford ECU mapping. The 130 had different cams, and also under piston oil jet sprays. It also had a bigger throttle body and different ECU map than the 105/115. The 105/115 will make the same power on different intake/management. And with a set of 2.0l or 130 spec cams will make the same as the 130 engine. Quote
Darkspeed Posted May 30, 2007 Author Posted May 30, 2007 So the expectation would be that a stock 105 Zetec on a performance ECU / exhaust /and carbs would make about 130BHP. Cheers Andrew Quote
thos Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 At least. A set of 2.0l cams will cost you about £50 and you'd be at '155' spec at that stage - but then you're on a slippery slope Quote
Gavin Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 I brought my Westy with a 105 engine in it running standard with Ford ECU and Ford injection. I have fitted an MBE ECU, Jenvey throttle bodies with 90mm trumpets and stock 2.0l cams and had mine rolling roaded at NMS a couple of weeks ago with an output of 153 BHP. It's in this months Complete Kit magazine if you wanted to take a look Quote
Darkspeed Posted May 30, 2007 Author Posted May 30, 2007 The outputs of the RS1800 130BHP spec / 2.0L cam change at or around 150BHP is well documented but there is very little about the outputs of the stock (non 130) engines on after market systems before cam swaps etc. I guess it would be an idea to get mine benchmarked with a power run at a local RR so I can prove to people how little power its actually making. tex Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 iv got a 1.8 sat nearly assembled in my garage - stock - westfield quote with throttle bodies around 155 - with dunnells set up they reckon about 166, 130 cams. Quote
