kylemrushall Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I HAVE HAD THIS MONSTER FOR NEARLY 3 YEARS AND IT HAS BEEN BRILLIANT!! I HAVE HAD SOME QUICK CARS BUT THIS IS THE QUICKEST BY FAR. FIRSTLY A BIT OF HISTORY.... THE CAR WAS BUILT IN 1997/1998 TO COMPETE IN THE KIT CAR RACE CHAMPIONSHIP BUT AS THE CAR WAS COMPLETED THE RACE REGULATIONS CHANGED, SO AS A RESULT THE CAR SAT AROUND FOR 2 YEARS UNTIL THE PREVIOUS OWNER BOUGHT IT TO COMPETE IN THE WESTFIELD SPEED SERIES. THE CAR COMPETED IN THE SPEED SERIES IN 2001 AND DID QUITE WELL. THE WINTER OF 2001/2002 SAW THE CAR GO THROUGH A HUGE AMOUNT OF WORK (MORE LATER) THE CAR COMPETED IN THE 2002 SPEED SERIES AND WON IT!!!!! THE CAR SAT AROUND IN 2003 AS THE PREVIOUS OWNERS CIRCUMSTANCES CHANGED. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2004. SPECIFICATION ENGINE; THE ENGINE WAS REBUILT BY JOHN EALES (WELL KNOWN IN THE ROVER V8 WORLD HE BUILDS ENGINES FOR THE PARIS DAKAR CARS)IN 02 AND HAS ONLY DONE 3500 MILES SINCE THEN. IT IS A 4.0 ENGINE WHICH IS CROSS BOLTED AND FITTED TO TVR CHIMERAS. THERE IS LOTS OF bulls*** THROWN ABOUT HOW MUCH POWER THEIR ROVER V8 HAS BUT THIS ONE HAS A GENUINE 265BHP. THE ENGINE HAS BEEN PROFESSIONALLY SET UP BY MARK ADAMS IN 2007 ON A ROLLING ROAD AND HE RE MAPPED IT. MARK ADAMS SAID WITHOUT MAPPING THE IGNITION THAT IS THE BEST FIGURES HE HAS SEEN FROM A 4.0 V8, WHICH IS A GREAT ENDORSEMENT FROM A MAN WHO HAS TUNED THOUSANDS OF ROVER V8'S!! THE ENGINE REVS SMOOTHLY AND STRONGLY AS IT IS ON INJECTON, IT HAS A JOHN EALES MODIFIED PLENUM. IT ALSO HAS A JOHN EALES MODIFIED BAFFLE SUMP SO YOU CAN GO ROUND CORNERS FAST WITH NO OIL SURGE (WHICH IT DOES). SINCE BEING SETUP BY MARK ADAMS IT DOES 28MPG ON A RUN (IT WONT MANAGE THAT ON THE TRACK) . 2 REV LIMITERS SO THE ENGINE IS WELL PROTECTED ONE IN THE ECU SET AT 6500RPM AND ONE WHICH CAN BE MANUALLY SET (OMEX) . FUEL INJECTORS PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED 2007 . IT HAS A COSWORTH T5 GEARBOX WHICH WAS STRIPPED AND CHECKED IN 2002 . SIERRA LSD WITH A 3.62 RATIO . A JOHN EALES BIG RAD WHICH COST £600 AND IS HAND MADE FROM ALI SO IT IS VERY LIGHT. . A PLUMBED IN OIL COOLER . SPA 9 FUNCTION DIGITAL SPEEDO THAT GIVES 0 T0 60, 0 TO 100, MAX SPEED ETC. . FRONT AND REAR ANTI ROLL BARS WITH WIDE TRACK WISHBONES WHICH MEANS YOU DONT HAVE TO HAVE THE SPRINGS MEGA HARD TO GET IT TO HANDLE. FULLY ROSE LINKED SUSPENSION FRONT AND REAR SO YOU CAN SET CAMBER,CASTOR,TOE ETC. ALL PROFESSIONALLY SET UP LAST YEAR £200. . REAL CARBON FIBRE REAR DIFFUSER, DASH, BOOT COVER , CYCLE WINGS AND WING PROTECTORS . LIGHTWEIGHT BONNET ETC . LIGHTWEIGHT RACELINE ALLOYS IN BLACK EPOXY COATED WITH BRAND NEW TOYO 888R'S 225 50 15'S REAR/ 195 50 15 FRONTS 15'S . MOMO REMOVABLE STEERING WHEEL . WESTFIELD LIGHT WEIGHT SEATS . FULL RAC ROLL BAR (COMP SPEC) . WILWOOD FRONT TWIN POT CALIPERS WITH GREEN STUFF PADS WITH BIAS ADJUSTMENT AND TWIN MASTER CYLINDERS. REAR DISCS ALL NEW LAST YEAR. . VDO REV COUNTER, WATER TEMP, OIL PRESSURE . DOMESDAY SWITCH, STARTER BUTTON . VERY LOW RIDE HEIGHT WITH THE EXHAUSTS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. AS THE VEHICLE IS SO LOW IT HAS A SUMP GUARD. . THE EXHAUSTS WERE MADE BY TECHCRAFT THEY COST £1200 AND ARE REPACKABLE ( REPACKED LAST WINTER) . ACT CARBON PLENUM BUT UNFITTED AS YET BUT SHOULD TAKE THE OUTPUT TO 270BHP AS YOU CAN SEE THIS IS A SERIOUS BIT OF KIT!! IT WILL COMPETE WELL WITH ANYTHING AT TRACKDAYS IT HANDLES GREAT, STOPS GREAT AND ACCELERATES LIKE YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE. IT CAN ALSO POTTER ALONG AT 40MPH IF YOU WANT TO. THE CAR IS VERY LIGHT FOR A V8, ONLY 625KG WITH A TANK OF FUEL. THIS GIVES A POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO OF 424BHP PER TON. 0 TO 60 IN 3.7 SECS, 0 TO 100MPH IN 9 SECS THE BEST I HAVE RECORDED ON THE SPA SYSTEM IS 8.7 SECS!! TOP SPEED OF 150MPH IF YOU ARE BRAVE ENOUGH, IM NOT. PRICE £12495 ovno SORRY I CANT WORK OUT HOW TO DO THE PICCES, BUT IT IS ON PISTONHEADS

kylemrushall Posted June 4, 2007 Author Posted June 4, 2007 hi I have taken a very nice fella out in the beastie tonight..... I spoke to him last night and he insisted he wanted a V8 even though he had never been in any kind of seven before I think he was a bit shocked at the performance it was lucky his wife came with him because i dont think he could have driven himself home as he was trembling so much his leaving words were perhaps a V8 may be a bit much for a first 7
Crazy Eddie Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Kyle are you going to the Shropshire meet this Thursday as if you are I would be really interested in seeing this. (To be fair though wouldn't be able to buy it untill July at earliest though) Just think this could be a nice contrast from the BEC. Cheers Eddie
kylemrushall Posted June 5, 2007 Author Posted June 5, 2007 Hi Eddie I wont be going to the Shropshire meeting i dont think (work commitments) but if i can make it i will. Please come and have a look, it would be nice to talk to someone who knows what a Westie will do and has sat in one before You would not believe some of the questions..... A fella in Crewe has just ordered a Robin Hood and he wants it to look just like my V8 so he asked if he could come and have a look to get some ideas and have a test drive He said he wants to fit a V8 in his Hood i told him dont do that, to which he replied why.... I said because the first time you accelerate you will snap you chassis . He didnt come and have a look
Mark B Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 This car is a beastie, I would buy it myself but I think the fuel bills would bankrupt me! Shame you're selling her kyle, good luck with the sale all the same mate. Twas nice to see it again the other week at the cheshire show.
