Sorry to post such a daft one but....

Recently completed a sport 2000 build - standard factory Duratec

Oil level - I've got a real problem checking the oil level. With the dipstick facing the nearside the level is up to the mark, with it on the offsife it is below the botton mark. The dipstck seems to go into the sump at an angle. Does anyone know which side is the correct one for reading the level? Silly, I know but if it would stop raining I wouldn't bother looking and would drive the car insteard.

Has the engine got a modified sump fitted? It sounds like the dipstick is being forced into the oil sideways on - possibly due to bottoming out on the sump. Perhaps shortening the dipstick will help?
