pistonbroke Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 QUOTE And Bernie, it's the benchmark because...... it's the benchmark. If only I could share the dream
bill shurvinton Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 So the 9.7 posted by the car James Lambert now owns is still the record What engine/ weight / tyres and proof of time please Rover V8, Large amounts of NOS, TH350 and possibly some trick tyres. This was a car built explicitly for drag racing. As for proof, PM james, he is on this forum and I believe was given the timeslip when he bought the car. I can safely say, having seen the car it is one of the most unique narrow bodied cars out there. On paper it breaks load of rules (v8 in a narrow body, auto box on a se7en) but in the flesh it looks right when you take its purpose into account. It is also the only se7en louder than my rotary.
scott beeland Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 I've also had the honour of burnout and launching this car infront of the caterham stand at Stoneleigh many moons ago and it truly is/was an animal
Dave J Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Ohhh dear - same ole moans and excuses .......... [stern teacher mode on] if you read the instructions for the day then yopu would realise that the classes are only for the practice and simply allows a driver to pit himself against a simliar powered car. the run offs are then simply fastest car goes through So Normans bitter little digs are nonsense also it is indeed an open day and you can run what ya brug so yes anyone can come along and run up the strip and "show them ******s how its done" bring it on if you think your hard enough or are you just keyboard jokeys !!! Norman you can organise a big national alcomers meet if you want - but I didnt want to get involved in a big event so I simply do it through my car club - that being the L7Club its simply a giggle and a bit of fun with a way over the top event title - shame you guys take it all so seriously
Club Secretary (Reserve) Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Dave J. It doesn't read to me like we take it "all so seriously". It seems like have a bit of standard bulletin board misinterpretation going on here. If you spent more time here you would know that we have a pretty good sense of humour about these things, and IMHO it looks like prettyr standard WSCC/L7Club banter to me. As for making comments directed at a particular user, I have previously stated our position regarding L7Club members turning up here and dragging up previous issues that took place over on Blatchat, but I will take this opportunity to remind both you and Fat Arnie. L7Club members are very welcome to come in here and join in the banter, BUT if you attempt to restart an old argument then I will remove your posting rights forthwith. I will then make a representation to your Committee that L7Club members are continuing to bring the L7Club in to disrepute by behaving badly whilst a guest in someone elses house. Leave it outside.
Dave J Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 heheheheeheheee guess you missed the smiles after my posts ? I've never been involved in the "issues" with Norman and Arnie and I'm not about to now. But normans comment on honesty was a bitter little dig. If anyone does wish to join us on the day at the strip you are all ,ore than welcome as it is an open rung what ya brung day
Club Secretary (Reserve) Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 So Normans bitter little digs are nonsense Smilies or not, that looks every bit as bitter as the comment that caused it. It could be interpreted as trying to belittle one person in favour of another. It certainly looks like you're taking sides to me. Or there was another motivation for saying it which I am missing. What was it? Smilies or not, if it can be misinterpreted, it will be. Misinterpretation is just as big a bane for us as it is for Blatchat, and you should know better. By all means discuss the Fastest Caterham in the World event, but leave the barbed comments out of it. Same goes for Norm. If the "all L7Club members are honest" comment was in fact a dig by Norm, I will frown on that just as heavily.
Norman Verona Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 QUOTE Posted on: May 18 2007,16:21 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (pistonbroke @ May 18 2007,14:33) QUOTE yes but ................. The Classes Class A = Maximum 120 bhp Class B = Maximum 160 bhp Class C = Maximum 210 bhp Class D = Maximum 260 bhp Class E = 260 bhp ++++ Class F = All bike engined cars How are they going to police that then My comment was a joke in response to the above. If anyone thinks it was a dig at anyone or anything them I'm sorry - for them!
Club Secretary (Reserve) Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 QUOTE If anyone thinks it was a dig at anyone or anything them I'm sorry - for them! That counts as a dig in my book. Enough is enough. Norm, you're on notice. Keep a lid on it. Same goes for all you L7Club lurkers and users. Leave it outside.
