I will definately get travel insurance as Le-Mans is coming up & I also have Barry Ashcrofts Stag week in Las Vegas(obviuosly the E111 will not apply in the states) I just wondered is worth just going to Le-Mans on the E111. & get the travel Insurance later in the year(Sept) when I go to Italy. This will then cover me for all summer next year etc? Buzz Buzz Quote
Club Secretary (Reserve) Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 You MUST have E111 IMO. It menas that any healthcare you require in Europe is free at the point of delivery. If you can't produce an E111, then you have to pay for your treatment. Read all about it, and apply for an E111 card online here. Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted May 16, 2007 Author Posted May 16, 2007 I've just read a bit on the interweb about E111 and they recomend travel insurance as well so that answers that!! Thanks away Buzz Quote
Vinny's Westie Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 I just applied for my E111 on the internet last Thursday and had the card on Monday. It only covers free medical cover and not repatriation, you need travel insurance for that. The website for details/applying is EHIC Card. HTH Quote
Club Secretary (Reserve) Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Yup, travel insurance is a must wherever you go. For travel in Europe, an E111 is also a must have, as well as travel insurance. Quote
The Irv Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 It worked a treat for me when I woke up in Hospital in Germany a couple of year ago. Unfortunately when they realised it was alcohol related which I inflicted upon myself at the Munich Beer festival the sent me a bill in the post Quote
ChrisG Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Just to clarify that as of a couple of years ago the E111 as such no longer exists, so if you currently only have an old style E111 form, this is no longer valid so you need to apply for the new EHIC card, as linked above. Quote
stickymint Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Joining in on the thread, as its not being answered yet (re Worldwide cover )......... I'm also looking to renew my worldwide travel insurance ( family of four ). Any recommendations, looking for good cover at a reasonable cost? Quote
RJD Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 The last worldwide insurance I had was supplied by Norwich Union. For two of us it worked out at about 50% cheaper than Boots' travel insurance. But I would never of thought of using them if it wasn't for... Travel Supermarket Ralph PS: No, I don't work for either company Quote
mrblondie Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 i used to be a holiday rep ... be very carefull the E111's, they only provide very limited health care in what and how they cover you ..... Quote
