It's there own design of camshaft. I don't know the exact details but does seem to have more life than Piper or Kent as you need the pistons pocketed.

Further to the last - it is impossible to map the ECU without knowing the exhaust that is being fitted - they can make a huge difference so don't believe the 'It won't need a RR session' hype either

I believe it runs closed loop with a wideband sensor.

Dunnell are good (see all the championships they've supplied and won) but are also expensive

Personally you should ask yourself why, and what do you want it to do?

If you want acceleration from a standstill, then look at the close ratio box and the lightend flywheel route.

If you want overtaking grunt, then supercharging or turbo?

If you want a fool proof fast road car with no carb fluffing/tractability issues, then EFI.

If you want the top end rush, then cams and heads, but also factor in rod bolts and perhaps pocketing the pistons or even upgrading the whole bottom end. Afterall more power normally comes with more Rpm

If you just wnat faster but no expense, then strip it out, remove the screen and sell all the trim for £.

Just aiming for a "target" bhp, whilst understandable in todays climate, is still nonesence.   Listen to the people above.

I'm glad to see this thread as it has answered a few questions that I have had, I have a 2ltr Zetec on carbs and am looking for a bit more grunt.

I hadn't really thought of the effect of gearbox (mt75) in the equation.

I'll keep an eye on this thread and see how you get on as I already have the Dunnell ECU.

Keep us posted

??? with regards to a gearbox change from mt75 to type 9 other than bell housing and prop does anything else need adding or removing as i have read in a thread elsewhere my chassis is a mt75 chassis as it has a hoop under the box, pleasehelp as i looking to upgrade my westie with a type 9.  :D

The "MT 75 chassis" has a wider tunnel than the "Type 9" or standard (or non MT75) chassis.

This means that you can shove the engine and type 9 'box back further in the MT75 chassis.

I have not done a T9 into an MT75 chassis but knowing my way around the Westy chassis reasonably well I'd say they the curved hoop should not present any issues.

If you have the bolt on type plate that supports the 'box you may need to fabricate a new one or re-drill the old one to mate up with the T9 gearbox mount.

You'll more than likely need a new propshaft and a new clutch assembly as well (not sure abouth this)

The standard pedal box should be able to cope with a diffrernt cable for the clutch (if indeed the cables are different from the MT75 to T9)

You will also probhably also need to go to an electric speedo as the MT75 and T9 are probhably different.

Chaz.

i think there is also another factor not being mentioned as to why i chose dunnells set up - i have seen what they are capable of and believe me - there are some seriously quick cars out there running just the same set up - also i like the idea of not making things overly complicated for my abilities.. i'm no guru of tuning i tell ya.. the exhaust is going to be built to suit the engine and induction system too dunnell are supplying all the neccessary data to dax for a custom built. car is going back to dax for them to measure it up over the winter - new mounts etc also..

yes it is only dunnell system and no change to other manufacturers but why would you want to change? i dont change stuff on a small detail iv seen that way too often with some owners and cant believe the money that is spent for a such small thing... do it once and do it correct if you can.
