chrisinoxford Posted May 8, 2007 Author Posted May 8, 2007 ok ok ok i am convinced wish i new where to start. can you help an old man then guys, been a good thread................ Where the blazes do i start?? Got a 2.0 VX redtop Running twin Webber 45's Chris. Quote
Johnson Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 I will have a dig around for you when I get in from work later and see what I can find regarding XE's being fitted with Megajolt. Weber do a bracket that will allow you to attach the throttle position switch(TPS) to your carbs, you will then need a TPS and a spindle to bring it all together. I am not sure what the Crank trigger wheel is like on a XE so not 100% certain you can use your original trigger wheel. It all depends how hands on you want to get really,if you have built a Westy then you can make a lot of the bracketry and bits you need. Quote
Hammy Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 have a good look at the web site I pointed you to, plus a general google for "megajolt" will show a lot of sites where people have fitted the device, just a case of reading up on it. Aslo worth a search of this forum. Quote
Jenko Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I would comtact MartinM on the MJ website....he can sell you a unit pre built, along with the instructions.....budget on £180 for the lot........... You will need: Megajolt unit, software and instructions 36-1 trigger wheel (try http://www.trigger-wheels.com/) throttle position sensor A ford VR sensor (for crank position) Ford EDIS module Ford coil pack A plug to put in the hole where your distributor was Automotive grade wire A lap top (pref a good one with usb 2) Brackets for the VR sensor, and Throttle position sensor New HT leads Lots of patients,... I bought most of my stuff from the trigger wheels website....it saved me looking around the scrappies, but cost a little more....... Also, the nice thing about the install is you can fit the sensors, and everything else with the distributor still in place, so your car only needs to be off the road when you actually power up MJ for the first time Quote
bhouse Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Does anyone know of a company who will supply, install and set up a megajolt system? Quote
Johnson Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Chris, I have searched about a bit and it looks like you cannot use the original crank trigger wheel on your XE engine. Where to start, reading the Megajolt forums and the build instructions that are on there would be my first port of call. If you do not feel confident enough to build the board yourself Bill Shurvinton who posts on here can supply fully built units. The majority of bits can be purchased from a breakers yard apart from the trigger wheel(search for cng1 also on here) for that and other bits and pieces. BHouse,I have not heard of any garage/tuner supplying and fitting a kit but some of the other embers may have. Can I ask what car its going to go on? Quote
bhouse Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 It's for my 11 which has a BMC 'A' series 1275. Brian Quote
chrisinoxford Posted May 10, 2007 Author Posted May 10, 2007 jenko whats the megajolt website? are you talking about the autosportslabs site or another that one looks like an american site chris Quote
Johnson Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Chris yes it is the Atosportlabs website you need. Brian if you look on the KAD website they do a premade bracket for mounting the crank sensor.I think lots of people on the Turbominis website have fitted Megajolt as well. Quote
Hammy Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Correct me if I'm wrong , but I'm sure Bill has stopped supplying Megajolt units, but a search or someone else will reveal who has taken up the torch and is now supplying them. I've one of Bills last ones (should be a collectors item in years to come ). Stuff apears on Ebay, again search Megajolt, got all my bits from there. Worth a good read aruond on the subject !! Quote
cng1 Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Martin Millener is the chap that has taken over megajolt supply. Top bloke. Quote
