Well this is going to be one of those annoying first posts.

Just a little bit of info, im currently breaking and selling off my nissan 300zx cause im sick of running costs/things breaking.

I got that car cause I had to sell my motobike to buy a house. So I like speed.

And these westfields are jsut that, so what size engine gets these things to 60 in 5 secs or under?

Also, whats the insurance like, its gotta be cheaper than a 300zx??!!?

And im 6'4" ish, so will I fit?!?!?

Thanks in advance all!

You'll fit, I'm 6'6, and I get in mine no bother.

For that sort of performance, a bike engined car is the way to go, either a blade, or busa.   Lesser mortals will settle for a VX, Duratec or Zetec engined car with acceleration times not far behind, but I'm guessing about 6 seconds or more realisticly.

The insurance for mine - I'm 47, and have 4500 miles a year limited mileage is around 250-280.   You have to go to a specialist classic/kit car insurer of course.

What area are you from?   It's a good idea to get along to a local area meet, and kick a few tyres before deciding on what exactly you want to go for.

Price wise, you can expect to pay around 10 grand for a bike engined car, and between 7 and 9 for a car engined one in reasonable nick.

Get yourself along to Stoneleigh Kit Car Show either Sunday or Monday 6th & 7th May - there'll be a fair selection there, and plenty for sale too.

Cheers Perksy, you're a mate ;)

My Birthday is next Tuesday, and if you're in my neck of the woods Saturday night, I'm cracking a few tinnies, and putting on a few sarnies.   You'd all be very welcome to come along.

Dont think I could quite stretch to 10K really.

Might have to settle for a 2ltr or something. I live in Southampton.

Rodders,  Welcome   :t-up:

It would be a good first move to go to your local area meet and have a chat with them

That way you'll be able to try a few cars and see which way you want to go engine wise

I'm sure you'll be able to have a few passenger rides aswell

Is there a 'south' group, near Southampton?

Yep, There is a Hants & Wilts meet on the Sunday 29th April at the Malthouse Inn in Timsbury (near Romsey).

The area page is out of date because the Rockingham Arms closed permanently very recently so we had to switch venues at short notice.

I'm based in Havant and work in Winchester so not that far from you. There are quite a few Westies in this area. More than welcome to come along for a chat and a pint.

Or if you want, watch us at the Rolling Road Day on Saturday 28th at JKM in Portsmouth, your chance to watch one or two blow up as well ;-) lol. See here for directions

Rodders

I picked up a Megablade back in August last year for about 8.5K.

It has been lightly breathed on and puts out about 140ish bhp and is plenty quick enough.

Very sub 6 sec to 60 and maxes out probably about 115-120mph maybe a touch more.

I pay about 400 fully comp for a 3,000 mile insurance policy that's with 1yrs no claims and 3 points and living in London.

Some people say BECs lack torque and are a pain to drive in traffic and around town. Have to say once you get used to it, it's fine and I haven't found it to be any hassle at all, but it's all down to what you expect and what you're happy to live with.

I'm really happy with it, but others might find it less liveable with.
