domcross Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Self-explanatory really Just wondering whether anyone's ever build a true monster supercar beater. Cheers, Dom. Quote
Major Stare Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Do you mean in acceleration or top speed? Of the cars i know of, id say Tommo's Flymo has the highest top speed Quote
cast iron Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 not sure about now, but Nicks Super Busa was a close match - then Austens Wards drag racing machine quick again. If the rumours are true then ACW's new motor could be a bit special Quote
cng1 Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Of the cars i know of, id say Tommo's Flymo has the highest top speed Any figures for the flymo? I've had L16COS at 150mph@6000rpm in top with another 800rpm to go before the limiter. That puts it at a gearing limited 170mph but I don't think my balls are big enough to give it a try. Quote
Sir Greg Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 The fastest Westy in the world? Well I'm doing a track evening at Knockhill today and if there are any Westys I can't catch I'll be using that excuse!!!......... Quote
david.c Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 That puts it at a gearing limited 170mph Doesn't work that simply..........otherwise my old 2 litre Cavalier CDi tin top would have done 195 mph David Quote
Asterix Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Don't know what the fastest Westie is, but I know what the fastest cake in the world is... "Scone" Quote

The 3.64 final drive on the flymo is the big factor. It easily hits the limiter in top down the back straight at Goodwood, that's 149mph. With a 3.36 diff it is geared to 162, and with a 3.14, 173. Whether it would reach that is another thing. With the available torque, I reckon it would do the 162, I reckon a long road would be needed to hit 173, not sure I'd want to try to be honest. Quote
DAVE O Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Think we need a club day on a runway with some timing equipment Mines about 120 flat out Quote
Barry Ashcroft Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 I can hit 150 effortless, On a private runway I hit 150 with Me and Muttley in the car with no doors on, Bearing in mind my car weighs 752kg plus an extra 35stones with me and Mutts in it plus I have a windscreen which is as aerodynamic as a brick the engine had plenty left with 460ftlb of torque it's pretty quick Quote
zoso Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 460ftlb of torque I think that's possibly more than the combined output of my drive... and that's got 4 cars on it... Quote
V 8 Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Bearing in mind my car weighs 752kg plus an extra 35stones plus I have a windscreen the engine had plenty left with 460ftlb of torque Kinell, now I know how the BEC guys feel Quote
neilb Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 I have been in Scooby's Turbo Zetec at 150 and it still had plenty of go in it, I think that Austin's car with the aeroscreen will probably be good for 170 ish Quote
