thos Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 As the title says, did Ford ever make a 3dr XR4x4 Sierra ? Quote
RJD Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Hi, Don't think so. The xr4i was a 3 door but wasn't 4 wheel drive. Quote
westy666 Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 This suggests there was (fourth para in the general info section) although I'm more with RJD from a personal point of view - cant remember ever seeing any, but thats not to say there weren't Quote
thos Posted March 23, 2007 Author Posted March 23, 2007 @westy666 - found that link myself alright, and just made me wonder even more !! Come on lads, get those anoraks on !! Quote
Norman Verona Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Yes, I had one in about 1986. The transmission was Ferguson and parts wren't available. When it went bang a new gearbox was the only remedy. £1500 was a lot of money in 1986. Can't remember what engine it had, may have been the V6 but it was a bit, no a lot, gutless. Replaced it with the first of 2 Intagralles. Quote
scruffythefirst Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 3 Door cossie turbo can be upgraded to 4x4 fairly easily. Definately the better option than the 2.8 v6. Although a 24v cossie v6 will fit easily where the 2.8 was. Quote
Hammy Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Not strictly relevant but.. A few road going Ferguson 4x4 capris were also built in the 70's - spin off from the Rally cross cars. Saw pics of one with leather interior etc. Quote

V8grunt Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 And I know that they did an 8x8 in South Africa. Same as the 4x4 but fitted with a BIG ford V8. That might have suited Norman better. Quote
thos Posted March 23, 2007 Author Posted March 23, 2007 Sierra XR8 alright: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/73903.htm So is that a no to the 3dr XR4x4 then ? Quote
Ian Podmore Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 I don't remember such a beast, and I used to read every car mag going in those days. The only 4 x 4 Sierras that I can remember were the 2 litre 5 door, the XR4 x 4 2.9 V6 5 door and the Cossie 4 dr. Quote

Norman Verona Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Well mine had 3 doors but may have been an export model. It came out the factory and the book was stamped "12 month warranty only" Quote
