evo-mark Posted March 22, 2007 Author Posted March 22, 2007 Evo Mark.... Not even knowing you, but if 5' 3" is your true height. Then the easiest solution is to move the seat! I used to work with a guy who was your height. He could only drive Volvo's because there seats were better adjustment wise. You would be better to raise the seat and move it forward. ( sorry to get personal but you may have long legs/short back.... long back/short legs. Use the vehicles abilities to over come your inabilities! BIGGER BLOCKS! no mate i'm perfect per potion .. short everything thing is i can only raise the seat so high, before the harness holds the back of the seat and not my shoulders , making it impossible to tighten the straps to hold me in as for moving the seat forward the steering wheel is on my chest in terms of how short i am ... my daughter is 11 on Monday and she is as big as me visibility would be fine now i've raised the seat .. but that bl**** lardy screen is in the way..!! i Quote

higgsti Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 thing is i can only raise the seat so high, before the harness holds the back of the seat and not my shoulders , making it impossible to tighten the straps to hold me in as for moving the seat forward the steering wheel is on my chest cant understand this are you saying that if you lift the seat and move it forward you cant adjust harness because it would be round your chest if so is there any extra harness material around the top eye bolts it fastens too that you can pull through or is it fixed.you could try using longer eye bolts on the top and washers or tube to light the eye higher if this helps or make a plate that will fasten into the seat anchor points and then fasten eyebolts to this bringing the forward . the aeroscreen is to steep it must be acting as a windbreak as mentioned b4 trim it and lower the angle .i had a similiar problem with my busa with westfield aeroscreen lifted the seat slightly about 1/2 " and that was enough.im not taking the p*** now but can you get some pedal extenders also because rule of thumb is in the correct driving position you should be able to put your wrist on the top of the steering wheel if you cant its unsafe and not comfy .if that doesnt work start sleeping in a grow bag Quote
Andrew Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 with me only being 5' 3" i've put blocks under the seat to raise it a bit but the aeroscreen fitted to the car still restricts my visibility whats the best aeroscreen to fit pic of the one fitted full carbon jobby prob for sale.? Mark, I reckon you'll have to take the screen off, then get your driving position right. See how high a screen you need, and go from there. Maybe get away with a small perspex deflector type thing.. or try it with no screen.. Quote
evo-mark Posted March 23, 2007 Author Posted March 23, 2007 with regards to cutting the screen down will this be straight forward as i have been told carbon can splinter and i don't want to ruin a perfectly good (tho high) screen..?? Andrew i think i'm going to go for a "small perspex deflector type thing" as you put it Quote

Andrew i think i'm going to go for a "small perspex deflector type thing" as you put it Scuse my ignorance but I was asuming aero screens were "perspex", ie transparent. See, (sorry), what the problem is from the pic now. Point is, ensure that you get a polycarbonate screen, not perspex. Perspex is a little harder, so doesn't scratch quite so easily, but can shatter and fill your face with plastic shrapnel. Polyc is bullet proof, I'm sure they would be available in this material, B. SIMON.G. Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 mark cutting carbon is really easy, i orderd a few bits from fluke and cut them down with a jig saw, you could alway use some rubber edge to run across the top to keep it tidy once cut. Quote

Mark is quite small granted but you don't need to see as much across the car as you think. Quote
