Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 That 312B with Jacky Ickx driving was my favourite Didnt Jenks drive a formula one Lotus on the Chertsey by pass on Christmas day back in the early sixties totally illegal but who cares The guy was a hero did you see the state of him when he co drove Sir Stirling moss on the Mille Miglia in the 50s. I remember reading his obituary for a guy like him to die all alone at home was tragic, one of Englands forgotton Heroes......Respect Quote
Martin Keene Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 It was supposed to have a section of London in it. But, word got round about when Ferrari were going to shoot it, Ferrari got concerned about the amount of people that might turn up and pulled the plug on it. Quote

F1 Cooper out for a shakedown run . I think the story went that he overtook the local plod car who chased after him , tried to cop him but he just hi tailed it back to John Coopers yard where the garage doors where left still open. He drove straight in , locked the doors and walked away via the rear entrance whistling dixie . Glancing back he saw the feds looking through the garage windows but as there was no one around to persue they gave up and left . I had the pleasure of seeing Ickx drive the 312 P at Oulton Park race . I can still here him down shifting through the gears for Old Hall corner every gear change perfect for lap after lap 312B was also raced as a 312P , basically the F1 chassis with a sports car body fitted , the engine sounded faboulus. Matt Seabrook Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Is it just me being old Grumpy, but dont the Older Engines make the Sweetest Sounds. No they all sound awesome just in different ways. Love the sound of the old cars they sound a little more like the sort of noise we can achieve. The newer cars from the 90's just send a shiver down your spine when you hear them. Quote

I heard it was more to do with congestion charging Quote
