Sir Greg Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Since I bought the Westy in December it's been in it's shed having a batch of mods and upgrades. So far it's had, Wilwood front brakes rear grooved discs alloy front hubs exhaust repack alloy rack mounts new rear lights - (home made) M&P headlamps Scottish bloke half doors - (modded by myself) white indicator kit carbon stone guards boot box carbon effect boot cover engine breather tank poly bush kit new gear knob and gaiter Varley battery Anderson plug Repainted wheels and new tyres And probably some other stuff..... All that's left to do (apart from repairing my overdraft) is a full engine service, some new HT leads and to have the suspension and steering properly set up... But today....it saw the light of day once more . It actually felt quite emotional as I drove it out of it's winter home for the first time. My partner Debs is a midwife and she reckons it was just like seeing a birth.......only without the mess.. I'm well pleased with the results and can't wait to get blatting.. Quote

Hehe.....the number plate is one of the few things still to do. Car won't be taxed or insured until the start of next month anyway. The lamps were bought from Britax but modded and made up by myself. I posted a thread a while back showing how it was done. And you're right......mega chuffed... Quote
Sir Greg Posted March 11, 2007 Author Posted March 11, 2007 Nice. Looks like you've worked hard. Thanks Norm......... although not as hard as you it seems. I've been following your rebuild........ very humorous and entertaining.......keep it up Quote

Thanks for the comment..... The side repeaters were found on Ebay. They're a Ford copy part and were only about £5 incl delivery. If you do a search for "white side repeaters" I'm sure you'll find loads. Halfords also do them but they'll charge a few quid more I'd think. Quote
Sir Greg Posted March 11, 2007 Author Posted March 11, 2007 B.E.A.Utiful mate Cheers Boomy....... I'm well pleased with how it all looks.........but it's even more pleasing when others like it too.... Quote

Sir Greg Posted March 11, 2007 Author Posted March 11, 2007 Nice one matey,Any chance of some detailed piccies and description of what you done the the boot box cover, it looks very cool Cheers Darrell, I didn't take pics of how I made the boot box cover as I did it over the space of a few weeks and didn't think it would be of interest to anyone else. Basically it's from one large piece of carbon effect 3mm thick ABS sheeting. To get it to sit flush with the egde of the bodywork I had to modify the second hand bootbox (ie cut lumps off it with a dremel!) so it sat a bit lower. The main shape is simply done by measuring about a hundred times and then more work with the dremel to get it to fit properly. It's edged with plastic trim sourced from Car builder solutions. Trickiest bit is to get all of the holes for the harness pins and roll bar supports in the right place. The boot lid is just a rectangular cut out (dremel again) that has been filed down by a few mm so it fits inside the main cover. That is edged by some flexible rubber trim again from the same place. I have to say however that it was the trickiest and most time consuming job of all to make that and maybe next time I'd do something different... A better pic........ Quote
Paul M Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 It's edged with plastic trim sourced from Car builder solutions. Is that the 13x7mm rubber u channel @£2.25 per metre ? I've been looking for something similar to tidy mine up with. Quote
FW500 Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 It's such a lovely looking car - everything looks done right. Those seats look great too - what are they? Quote
stu999 Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 They look like Westfield seats to me Cracking job, really looks the part Except for one thing - the seat belt eyes are not fitted correctly. The 'hoop' of each eye should face the direction of the seat belt, IYSWIM, or in other words, turned through 90 deg to how you have them at the moment Shims should be placed under each eye so that they are tight in the correct position Quote

You have to heat it with a heat gun or hairdryer to get it to flex around the corners as it's a bt brittle cold. The rubber trim around the boot opening is TRMU2 Rubber channel. Quote
