Mark Stanton Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Andy .......... What version do you have and is it PDA or stand alone Quote
a4gom Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Version 5 on a pda. I need to go have a look through my disks, have just had a feeling though that I might have a newer version. Last year when I went to th US my version of tomtom wouldn't read the us map as my version was newer than the map, I removed it and loaded the older version but now I can't remember if I chnged back or not when I came back. I know version 6 lets you do longitude and latitude. Back shortly. Edited to say be tomorrow now, wifes doing reports so I can't get to my disks at the moment. Quote
a4gom Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Looks like version 5 is the latest I have, need to get my hands on version 6 me thinks. Anyone know of a good source?? Quote
Mark Stanton Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Version 5 via PDA has a GPS locator ............ not quite same as a 710 which does have an easier lat/long user system Quote
KerryS Posted March 13, 2007 Author Posted March 13, 2007 At least I now know that Garmin Nuvi does do OS grid refs - thanks Fish Quote
Ian Podmore Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 I'm running the latest PDA version, the previous version (5) does not work as easily with lat/long as V6. On V6 you have to go to 'address' to get to enter a postcode, but in V5 'postcode' was a 1st level option. Quote
Major Stare Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 At least I now know that Garmin Nuvi does do OS grid refs - thanks Fish your welcome When you get the satnav, can you keep clear of my ankle co-ordinates Quote
KerryS Posted March 15, 2007 Author Posted March 15, 2007 Just to close this out, I am advised that Garmin nuvi and TomTom 710 and 910 accept OS grid references. TomTom One does not Quote
Mark Stanton Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Correct Tom tom one is fine for UK run about ........................ but from what you've been posting the Tom tom 710 seems ideal as it does do lats/longs ............ mine does anyway and you've checked out Fish's nuvi ............. so pays yer money take your choice Tom Tom 710 can also be used as a phone hands free via bluetooth and ipod hook up Quote
KerryS Posted March 15, 2007 Author Posted March 15, 2007 My dear wife has offered to buy me the Garmin 350 This does Europe too, all ready for retiremnt travelling Also, I can do the Curborough sprint training day on my birthday in September - isn't she nice Quote
