Don’t do it at all in my honest opinion – highlighting the manufacturer of your tyres with white paint went out of fashion with jacked up Cortinas with plastic rear window louvers, Capris and Marina Coupes painted in Starsky and Hutch colours and large furry dice hanging from the rear view mirror!  :D

How about a Kevin and Tracy sun visor kit as well for full effect. :D

I never used one, but if you get the pen clean your tyres first. Load the pen with paint by pushing the tip on a hard surface i few times to get it flowing. Don't over load it though as your get paint everywhere.

Your probably have to do it a couple of times to get good coverage. Don't curb the tyres as your be doing it all over again and trying to clear off the smears is a pain in the :arse:

Always have a fully loaded pen as it won't be long before it wears off.

You can get them from Halfords on the spoiler and body kit boyracer shelf. The one near the smellies and flashing neons :D

I'm only guessing though as I've never done it myself. :p

But if you have a number of different sets of tyres for trackdays/sprints then you can mark them and keep track of laps/distance.

Thats DEFFINATELY my only experience of using a tyre paint pen (in the karting world) not ANY other purpose.

Used to use a tyre pen on my motorcycle tyres years ago when it was popular, always used silver instead of white though (a touch more subtle)

You have to make sure the tyre wall is clean with some IPA before writing on it though if you want it to last.

Always ends up looking tatty after a while though.

Wouldn't bother now though, on a car I'd just give the tyres a wipe over with a tyre dressing.
