Recommended Posts

Posted

This is my friends 2.3 Duratec Turbo engine he has just completed building after about 2 years of research and development.

Going into a front wheel drive focus drag car but I am trying to get him to put it in a kit car next year.  :p

Guess what power this will make? (it ill be over standard I'm sure)

Due for the Dyno in the next week or two

Less than standard - Good prediction  :bangshead:

What is the spec? I'm going to have a stab and say well into the 400's possibly 500's going by the turbo and pipework alone but that's just a wild guess - it looks like a very nice engine though - how high is his bonnet (because that turbo is pretty high and is going to get bleddy hot)

because that turbo is pretty high

....thought it was a snail :arse:

Just to note the engine will be running 2.5 bar and the turbo is a T72 Turbonetics

As for the Spec: DKE Custom stroke crank, Arrow Rods, custom pistons, Girdled block, Steel Liners, CNC big valve head with Numonic valves, 8 big injectors, dry sumped etc etc

No expence spared

My friend Ian has built over 50 Ford derived turbo engines now and achieved 525bhp on a Zetec engine on Harvey Gibbs dyno at 2 bar on a T4

625 -650bhp with some almighty lag

Has he any experience of turboing or supercharging a 2.0 duratec for a road/track car. Not looking for massive bhp, more driveable torque with possibly a 'Safe250-300bhp' ??

For a Westfield, if you haven't already guessed?

Ian is one of the best builders of Zetec and Duratec engines in the country, both turbo and normally aspirated.
