Buzz Billsberry Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Who cares? Its coming no matter what. Buzz Quote
Blacknblue Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 As was found out after the M4 protest, the police now have powers under president B.Liars anti anything laws that means they can prevent any protests or gatherings of more than 2 old ladies at a bus stop for even daring to mention the glorious leaders name in disrespect. In addition they can charge all participants spot taxes, and further harassement at any time in the future as per the anti-socialist bill. So my guess is either it will be an unorganised event or the organisers will be leant on to drop it. Quote
steve_m Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Who cares? Its coming no matter what. Buzz We're fortunate our Grand parents didn't have that attitude when Hitler was on the move . . . There is nothing like a demo these days to show the politicians they can't walk over us. It worked for the hunting act, it even partially worked for the speed camera on the M4. Anyting is better than sitting on our elbows doing diddly squat. Quote
Blacknblue Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Anyting is better than sitting on our elbows doing diddly squat. I agree that we should do something, but then I've always liked the idea of mass protests against the government to get the view across. The French always seem to put on a good show when it comes to public dislike of government policy, we in this country are generally too apathetic to get involved. Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 My attitude is fine despite your petty jip about the second world. You have no idea John, Fighting a war is soooo far removed form a fuel protest. It’s all been said before it does matter what you think. If you’re naive enough to think that a protest will stop it then good look to you. IT’S COMING ITS AS SURE AS YOUR DEATH. GET USED TO IT! They government has got us by the balls so when they implement it and you don't pay or you protest(by blocking the roads up and bollocking everyones elses day) they'll come to your house /get your money/ or take you to court .So you protest and you don't pay they take your car away /ban you or whatever draconian punishment they decide & that’s what will happen for the most of us law abiding citizens: we are traceable. As for the hunting act that’s not enforceable as is the smoking ban unless they make you register for your cigarettes and where a tag! There's no money in Horses or smoking fines. The M4 cameras were just replaced by the bus lane!! plus you couldnt go fast enough to be caught by the speed cameras because of the congestion Just like the miners won the miners strike!! A great job lads, they won their protest and wasn't it worth while no pay for 18 months, tons of debt, broken marriages & homes and look they have a wonderful modern industry now thriving erm every where else but the UK what a great victory! Very worth while protesting. oh yes another great victory was the Poll Tax? Wasn’t it? Yes it was a great victory the government backed down and Poll tax died...all over Westminster they were p******** themselves laughing saying " I can't believe they fell for the council tax line Instead”!! If you feel that you wanna protest then go a head, I prefer to 'diddle me squat' and if you do get a result then I'll buy you a drink and say thanks, good job.... but tell me how would YOU stop the congestion on our roads?? For me the only way is pay as you go…. increase tax on fuel an drop the road tax. DRIVING IS A PRIVALGE NOT A RIGHT Ok I know this all very me,me,me and cynical but I've seen all this before and there's only one winner and its usually Westminster. All you can do is be assimilated but keep your individuality and work round the system. There's always ways around the system Well thats the fans flamed right lets talk illegal Immigration!!!...wheres me coat! Buzz Quote
steve_m Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 IT’S COMING ITS AS SURE AS YOUR DEATH. GET USED TO IT! It's not, because it's not a viable answer. The current trend of corrupt politics has got to end at some point. We have pay as you go now by way of fuel duty but it doesn't stop people driving. Quote
Boomy Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 As was found out after the M4 protest, the police now have powers under president B.Liars anti anything laws that means they can prevent any protests or gatherings of more than 2 old ladies at a bus stop for even daring to mention the glorious leaders name in disrespect. We need to protest against this and if everyone is arrested for this protest, we will protest against that too. Then, when they are arrested for protesting about the protesters being jailed due to protesting laws, we shall prote.............actually, i'm just going to have a nice cup of tea and go sit with Buzz i think Quote
PeterOz Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 but tell me how would YOU stop the congestion on our roads?? Interesting that nobody has actually answered Buzz's guestion...... Quote
Arm Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Work from home Tax incentives for car sharing Flexible working hours Free parking at airports (save 2 trips cos its too expensive to leave the car) Control the population (immigration) Improve the roads Lift the speed limits Speed up the rate at which roads get repaired Lift the min age of driving Long term bans for proper motoring offensives Encourage motorbikes (no road tax) Encourage small cars (no road tax) Improve public transport Use the money taken from the motorist to reinvest in the roads Remove bus lanes Well basically just look around for the simple answers and stop bull****ting us! PeterOz Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Work from home - well yes, but not everyone can. Tax incentives for car sharing - agreed Flexible working hour - agreed Free parking at airports (save 2 trips cos its too expensive to leave the car) - ?? would simply encourage more people to drive to the airport - take a cab/bus!! Control the population (immigration) - !! how about sterilising the stupid..... Improve the roads - simply increases traffic volume Lift the speed limits - which ones? And how would that improve congestion on, say the M25? Speed up the rate at which roads get repaired - If the traffic volume was lower they wouldn't need repairing so often Lift the min age of driving - how would that affect congestion? Why not reduce the MAXIMUM age?? Long term bans for proper motoring offensives - like speeding? Encourage motorbikes (no road tax) - agreed, although injury/death statistics would probably rise. Encourage small cars (no road tax) - agreed. Although that is happening to an extent at the moment with differential rates of car tax Improve public transport - agreed. Use the money taken from the motorist to reinvest in the roads - more roads just mean more traffic. Remove bus lanes - so how would that improve public transport? (see above) Well basically just look around for the simple answers and stop bull****ting us! Quote
spence Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 If it gets introduced just watch this country plummet into deep deep recession and chaos as nobody can afford to do anything. Every counties economy is based on a good road network. If you can't afford to drive or buy food etc because of the added costs, what will happen then? I think Arm has said the basic ways, it ain't rocket science goodness me. It all depends on what a governments priorities are and at the moment all i see is money being P***ed up the wall and given to those who don't deserve it. It seems to me nowadays the harder you work the more they want to take off you. The more you sit on your a*** the more they give you. I can see it now, all those on benefit etc etc etc given free road travel. Quote
Arm Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Pete You asked for some suggestions. Maybe you would like to offer some ? Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Bigger better 4 x 4's are the answer! You could then go cross country without the need to use roads Quote
