Best AA experience I had was when I broke a gear linkage on my Long wheel base army land rover. I was on a moor top road at the time.

Guy turned up in a very old Transit, had a quick look said, 'I will have to get this recovered' only to find out when he got his big book out that the 'only' way to recover said vehicle was on a static bar on the tow ball of a transit. he was gutted.

it was too heavy for a low loader winch, too high for flat bed, 4wd so not a suspended front end tow... etc etc.

we had great fun coming off the moors. His brakes were not in the best and transit full of equipment with land rover full of equipment mean very very slow uphill and me having to help with the braking downhill

quite scary but fun at the same time.

Had to call the AA out on Sunday for my road car, engine developed a very bad misfire. Called the AA explained the situation, they said someone would be with me in 30 mins, guy arrives in 10! Although he couldn't fix the problem he arranged a recovery truck which arrived promptly, took the car to the garage and us home. They were all very poilte & helpful.

I say top marks to the AA.
