Steven (WE51STE) Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Hi, The Warwickshire area booked Coventry Karting for the 23rd November so we could do our yearly battle with our Leicstershire neighbours. We paid a £100 deposit to secure the event. We turned up for the event but due to a power cut after waiting an hours and half decided to leave and try again on the 26th January. We told them at the time and I phoned up a week after the first failed attempt to confirm the new date. We turned up to go karting on the 26th of Jan and the Karting place was closed. I have phoned the manager and he was quite abrupt saying he had paid for his staffs time for the first event ( that could not happen because of the power cut ) and that no one had told him about the second date so he refused to give us our deposit back but he would hold the deposit until the next time. I said that the members didn't feel like making another wasted journey and we would require the deposit back at which point he said we are not going to get anywhere he would be out of pocket and slammed the phone down. Does anyone have any suggestions ? I would not recommend this place to anyone !! Regards, Steve Quote
langy Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Put pen to paper and write to them. Let them know that all the people that were going are 'motorheads' and they will not be recommending them to anyone else. Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Steve, I was there on the canceleld night and I witnessed the offer of a rescheduled event, as probably did lots of others. Maybe a visit in person with backup may be in order? John Quote

Asterix Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Publish the same story in various forums and keep it in the news. Get a template letter made up and either get all who attended to sign OR get them each to send the letter themselves. cc the letter to his local newspaper -if you can find his home address. Guessing there's some kind of Kart venue organisers association, maybe worth a try. Quote
