***NO LONGER ARRANGING THIS, REPLACEMENT VENUE FOUND***

Following on from my last thread, I'm looking at the feasibility of a Mid-March, weekday, shakedown on the 1.1 miles tarmac track at Blyton in North (?) Lincolnshire (haven't yet found a video on't tinterweb).

No confirmed dates yet, just gauging interest/ getting the numbers up.

Published prices are £400+VAT for a 0930 - 1600 open pit lane (assuming there is a pit lane), self marshalled, top day.

Toilets and coffee are provided, not necessarily in that order. Food and go-juice is of the bring your own variety.

Proprietor suggests a maximum of 6 cars on track at any one time.

Driver training can also be provided at £150+VAT.

Please state intent here by reply and the car you'll be driving (and include any caveats...e.g. "can't do wednesdays").

Names on the list already are: -

Westfield     Peter Cox/ Kev Roper

Westfield     Webmaster

Westfield     John Tomlinson

Micra?          Rob Navin

Suggest for the purposes of safety that this offer is open to WSCC members *OR* Westfield cars only (i.e. you can attend in a non-Westie* as long as your a member and vice-versa). Comments on that welcome...

Sad to say this, but in this day and age I'm guessing that for insurance purposes no-one will be "organising" this. However, I don't mind "co-ordinating" us private individuals with the track proprietor (i.e. will check with the proprietor but will assume that insurance is under your own steam).

I'll maintain "signed-up" and "reserves" list. If there's too many for one-day, I'll work it so that the co-ordination can be handed over to someone else for another day.

Will also try to arrange noise meters and other such stuff (but would be grateful of others pitching in).

*No double decker buses :D  :D  :D

DON'T Get yer names on the list  :t-up:

Unless the track has changed significantly since i was last there you will not get six cars on track at once... i think the most we managed was two or three at a time.

The track is/was not officially a full loop at race speed (unlike on Fluke videos!!!). When we were there we had a 100m section of track with two 90 degree bends in it which was to be driven at reduced speed.

There isn't really room for overtaking so we just tended to use the 100m reduced speed section to space ourselves out.

We had a great day there but its a really bumpy track, loads of stones (so tape up your rear arches unless you care for the pebbledashed look) and watch out for the tyres that mark out the edge of the track... wander too wide and you will rip off a rear wing as one of our group did.

Great value for money though!  :t-up:

yeah ,its quite bumpy there , been round in jhoseasons v8 darrian , and it was quite potholey .

saying that  - you can book individually for £45+vat or so they say - i cant find £400+vat anywhere .

i wouldnt mind a go round there as a shakedown for my own motor  . so if youre short on numbers , count me in .

£400+V came direct from horse's mouth.

However, having said that, I've been rash and gone elsewhere...THIS EVENT WILL NOW NOT HAPPEN...

Watch out for new thread coming your way soon.
