MVS Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 So what was the 'Cat' fight all about, cos I missed it. Was it engineering heritage or just personal? Have a read between these lines... So judging by my 'reading between the lines' it sounds like a bit of financial impropriety, someone bottling it up, and finally speaking his mind, leading to others getting peeved at him laying it on the line in public?? Aves Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Or alternatively - as seems to have occurred to very few over there - maybe someone made an accusation so unfounded that the powers that be had to pull the plug. Some people are so blinkered & naive over there that they can't even acknowledge that there may be two sides to a story. I don't see anyone demanding audited accounts for the bulk buys Quote
Aves Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 A*** - didn't think you could double post here Quote
oioi Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 I don't see anyone demanding audited accounts for the bulk buys i wont because i made an assumption early doors that norman would make a "profit". he had to cover his A*** when stating a price against shipping costs, exchange rates etc. so say norman decided that likely variation was 10%. to cover himself he added 15% onto the cost. he makes between 0-15%. (probably closer to 5%) So what? i bet if you look at his hourly rate for the amount of effort he has put in its between 5-10 quid an hour. hardly a great return. most importantly of all I have a great toolbox at a very reasonable price so who cares if norman makes a couple of quid? thank you norman, youve saved me a load of cash whereas if he was doing it on behalf of the wscc I would expect that surplas to go to the club as the club rather than the inidivdual had taken the risk. From what I heard when I collected my toolbox, any surplus "profit" was getting donated to charity.. It was also a bleedin' good job there was a contingency as they got messed about by the shipping company and incurred huge extra costs from the truck company. Quote
peterg Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 and in my dealings with Norman during the BB I think you'd find his hourly rate for all the work he put in would be more like £1/hour and just having to co-ordinate my local area collection and storage was quite enough and I only had to sort out 11 peoples stuff, not 600 Quote
Eccentric_Rich Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 I think you'll find Norman will be sending the surplus money from the bulkbuy to the Lotus Seven Club's nominated charity, NtL - he did after the previous bulkbuy. I don't think there's any doubt about Norman's integrity with regard to his bulkbuys but I'd be interested in what his post contained if anyone can e-mail me a copy or a summary of the details. Aves Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 I was merely suggesting that people should think about why the forum was suspended - perhaps against the background of why the board went members only in the first place. There was more than one person posting. Quote

Ooooooeeer! In the nicest possible way of course... Why is it incidently, that people seem to take themselves far too seriously on the net, especially on incestuous little forums.... Quote

That whole argument appears to me to be the sexist bigots vs the religious bigots, overseen by the hypocritical political bigots.....Or is that an over simplification? Still whilst they're arguing about botty jockeys adopting sprogs, at least they have less time to persecute motorists or car buliders.... Quote
oioi Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 heres a question for the wise has the boardroom ever been closed due to heated debate? i cannot recall but a mate said it was when things got "excitng" over some comments made about a crash somewhere... i dont remeber that being the case but perhaps it was? I think i remember that... at spa...if that was the one... it just turned into a bit of a [net geek] flame war [/net geek]... but i don't think it got shut down... the WSCC is infact the most placid board i've ever been on, alot seem to spend their time shouting at eachother... and correcting grammar and spelling... Peace and love all... Quote
