Brum Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Went with SWMBO last Saturday to look at replacing her car. We found what what we wanted, test drive, agreed price to change etc. deal sorted. I have just been looking on the dealers web site (multi location) found the same car was advertised car at a different site for £500 less . Not paid for car yet, what's the chances of renegotiating ?or is it as the topic title says? anyone had a similar experience? Quote
Roman Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Get someone else to ring up to see if the car is still for sale at the lower price. Did you leave a deposit? Quote
Westy1700 Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 been there and done it...saw a car advertised with same dealer at different location after i had paid a deposit some years ago and it was cheaper like yours... went to the other location posing as a fresh buyer looking for exactly the car....salesman located MY car at another 'location' and i let him raise all the paperwork to purchase it...to the point he is done and all signed and he then asks me for a deposit - i then asked him to use the deposit i'd paid at the other location for the same car as deposit for the deal....they were snookered and caved in...i collected the car later that afternoon from location 1 and saved IIRC about £350 Quote
Brum Posted January 25, 2007 Author Posted January 25, 2007 Been in touch with the "other" site...they gave me the impression that they would have sold me the car for the advertised price i.e. the lower one until they checked and said it had been sold at the weekend....way forward? walk & lose deposit? ask for a reduction? ask for a free service (cam belt due 12months?) Vinny's Westie Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 I didn't think they could hold onto your deposit, irrespective of anything they may say about lost sales etc. Quote
samcooke Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 If the deposit's paid, price agreed and paperwork signed I doubt there's any going back. Look at it this way, you were happy to buy the car at the price, and nothing's really changed. Alternatively, claim you can't go through with the purchase because you just lost your job or something similar, beg for the deposit back, then buy the car from the other place. Quote
cast iron Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Instead of creating a prooblem, try being reasonable with them, you have seen it cheaper, can you have it for the cheaper price. Treat them reasonable, who knows you may get the same in return - Good Luck Quote
