gee_fin Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 For sale, pair of shiny blue Kent Cams verniers. Actually, a complete 2.0 16v Vauxhall XE engine for sale. Was previously running in a RWD 205 rally car, however three stages in round Rockingham last month it decided it didn't like it's oil and so spat it all back out at us, leaving itself (despite still making power) sounding more like a diesel. Haven't taken it apart to see what the issue is, car is sold so no need to. But I digress, my life story can wait for another thread. Essentially, most people will be interested in the shiny blue anodised Verniers, as we all know, anodised blue = big power, although some people do claim it's to dial in the final nth degree of timing for their trick cams. Verniers for £75.00, or, complete engine for £150. Engine was running 190bhp+ on throttle bodies/ECU. Cams are of unknown origin, there are no marks on them to distingiush what they are, at a glance at the power curves I would say they're your normal fast road/mild race stuff. Hydraulic followers (although, by the sound of the thing running when we pulled into service they may need a little oil ). Standard bottom end bar heavy duty rod bolts. An abortion of a wet sump. Standard pistons/crank/everything else. Comes with external trigger wheel on the crank pulley, starter motor, alternator (no flywheel/clutch) and what little oil is left in it. Seriously - Verniers/cams will be reusable, if someone can be bothered stripping the engine there will be more rescuable bits too. Spare head perhaps? Anyways, £75 for Verniers or £150 for engine as is. Can deliver to Autosport Show Sat/Sun otherwise it's in Northampton. Have spare standard starter, alternator and brand new water pump if anyone is in need as well. Did I mention the cam cover and cambelt cover are a lovely shade of blue? 07747 60 60 66/graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk Cheers! Graeme.
Darrell O'Neill Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Graeme, How much for the starter motor? any idea of postage cost?
stu999 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Graeme, just to confirm, the verniers look to be the later 'square tooth profile' ones? I'm guessing this by what looks like plastic idler pullies in the pictures...
gee_fin Posted January 7, 2007 Author Posted January 7, 2007 Graeme, How much for the starter motor? any idea of postage cost? Call it a tenner, will weigh it and let you know the postage. Just whatever Royal Mail charge me. Or can get it to the Autosport Sat/Sun

stu999 Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Hmm, not sure how you tell, they're kinda square looking in profile if that helps? OK, then. Try another way. Has it got plastic idler pullies? If so, it is a sure bet that it has the later square tooth profile camwheels fitted, and will only fit engines of similar vintage. Well, actually, they will 'fit' earlier engines too, but tend to make a right mess when you try and start them for the first time
