gp350se Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Hi Folks Has anyone any idea of season cost running a Westy in class b in the speed series, all this is new to me .Thanks Quote
*Emma* Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 I think the answer is "much more than you can ever imagine......" Edited to add:- and don't tell the wife .... Quote
peterg Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 So many variables.....it depends on: How many events you do, how far you have to travel to each event, B&B or tent, drive there or trailer it, etc etc Reckon on average £90 per entry, then add on MSA race (minimum Speed Nat 'B') licence (£50?), clothing, helmet etc then add in fuel used to get there and back, B&B, food etc..... see what I mean I did 19 events last year and spent around £3.5k but that also included: a lot of B&B as 'we' don't do tents, kennel fees and fuel for the 3500 miles towing the racecar around the UK as driving a single seater is not an option Quote
MartinH Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 I did 19 events last year and spent around £3.5k but that also included: a lot of B&B as 'we' don't do tents, kennel fees and fuel for the 3500 miles towing Ah but not the BMW gearbox Quote
Mid life crisis Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 I did 14 events last year in A Helmet £415.00 Suit £290.00 Gloves £55.00 Boots £110.00 Undies £80.00 Trailer £1700.00 Tyres £180.00 Fuel (W) £130.00 Fuel tcar £320.00 Entry fees £1170.00 Licence £55.00 Hotel/B&B £420.00 Meals £260.00 Total £5185.00 Should be about £1700.00 less this year as I now have the trailer. As Emma said don't tell the wife. Edited to add two rooms and four tickets to the awards dinner plus drinks £400.00 £5585.00 Quote
cast iron Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 I transferred£300.00 per month to a seperate account last year, what was left at the end of the year went on upgrades. I also paid tax and insurance from it. If it wasn't in the account then it didnt happen Quote
mark.anson Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 I counted the purchase of overalls, helmet, trailer and a motorhome!!! as "set up" costs as in theory I wont have to fork out for these again for some time. As previously mentioned entry fees are on average £90 per event, but its the travel costs that really add to the expense. Camping can save on the B&B costs but if its wet weather its not fun at all. Just ask those poor soles at Anglesea last year. Mark Quote
