james_carter1981 Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Does anyone keep theirs outside, under a cover if necessary? Otherwise i'll have to find a garage somewhere. Quote
Willow Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Should be fine under a cover unless there's any cats in your neighbourhood. My car stayed warm and dry in its Hamilton Classic cover until next door's cat started using it as a hammock and put his claws through the cover numerous times. Now it lives on the drive in a covered trailer. The damned cat still gets in the trailer and sits on the bonnet but at least the car stays dry. Quote
Bean Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 See here in the FAQ section Outside storage Quote
Bluerallye Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Mine stays on the drive under a cover, well three! A cheap indoor cover, a £5 B&Q tarp and a Hamilton Classic on the top. Everything is peachy but i keep the tonneau zipped up too for extra protection and also to avaoid the cats as Willow said. Been like that for 2 years now and it does fine......would like a garage though Quote
Jenko Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I keep mine under 3 covers....a cotten one first, followed by a halfords waterproof cover, and finally a sheet of tarp...... Hint.........A nice big bit of tarp can actually fit snuggly over a westfiled......Basicall buy one thats way too big, then tie the corners to fit when stretched over the car (you know, like those old blokes on the Beach that tie Handkerchiefs over thier heads).....A piece of rope that fits around the car just under the wheel arches and above the knots in the tarp will ensure the cover stays on even in the highest winds...... Price of tarp £6 - B&Q, bit of rope £5 - B&Q......cost of nice dry Westfield - Priceless.............Trust Jenko for all your westfield cover needs....... Also, if you keep car as close as possible to the house, it normally keeps the frost off................ Quote

Yeah, that'd make more sense Mine lives under just a Hamilton cover for most of the year out back, the harsh winter months I put it in a local garage on SORN. Quote
scott beeland Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Putting a tarp on 1st plays hell with the gelcoat finish too Quote
perksy Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Yep, even the cheap plastic tarp's from B&Q will mark the gel coat, especially on a windy day.... Quote
Bluerallye Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 That's why there's a cotton cover on there first. Admittedly the Hamilton on first would probably be the best idea but it's all working as is. Paint's (gel-coat died years ago) nice and unmarked and never seems to suffer condensation when the covers do come off. F*****n paw prints on the other hand Quote
james_carter1981 Posted December 12, 2006 Author Posted December 12, 2006 mmm, i might try to bribe the old lady downstairs to rent me her garage then, for when i get a westfield (fingers crossed) Quote

Drakuul Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I keep mine in Galveston, Texas. And no, that's not a joke Quote
james_carter1981 Posted December 13, 2006 Author Posted December 13, 2006 lol, that's a bit far for me to go for a track day, or a country drive Quote
Ginger Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Mine appears to be one of the lucky few to be tucked up in the garage then... Quote
