Ketan
Just an enquiry post... ....am looking to upgrade my 1700 XFlow to a 1800 Zetec. Apart from a swirl pot and manifold...is there anything else i need? I been told the type 9 gearbox bolts straight on as well....is this true? Also will the sump need shortening + baffled at all? Thanks Ketan

Thanks Ketan There is lots more you will need.................. New exhaust system Engine management Baffled sump - yep Different alternator Engine mounts Different carb set up (i.e. chokes and jets) possibaly some water pump alterations Inlet manifold Good news is you may not need a swirl pot :-) It's not as cheap and easy as you may think...but of course it's a very nice conversion...so don't be put off...just be realistic, and expect to have to part with £2k........ Also, if you haven't already bought the engine, you may as well put in a 2 ltr rather than a 1.8, as they are the same, and 2ltrs can be bought for not much money......... Loads of info to be found on the forum if you do a search on this subject.............

markcoopers
Keep an eye out for cheap ECU's and carb set ups comming up for sale over the winter. I suspect that alot of people will upgrade to Fule injection, meaning that the spark only ECU's and carnbs could well end up on here for good prices. 1800 will work well on twin 40's, so might not need to swap these, but will need new jets etc. Type 9 will bolt directly to engine. Clutch release arm and bearing should all fit as well, but clutch might not, or cover at least. THe 1800 flywheel does however fit the CVH swapping boys, so you could get lucky.....? Actually I have a detailed part description for this upgrade somewere from the factory no less..... pm me a fax number and i'll get a copy to you sometime.
