Keith@FM Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 I know Westfield makes a race seat for their cars. How is it for comfort? Obviously it's not the best choice for touring, but am I liable to be crippled after a day at the track? What other good options are out there at reasonable prices? I'm looking for something that will fit a narrow bodied car. Quote
Evo,s 7SE Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 i fitted some catering van reps in my pre lit about 200 quid for pair think mk do them just need to shave a bit off of harness slots to fit in just run a OMP lower cushion from demon thieves about 15 quid very comfy even with no padding Quote
Martin Keene Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 I think Westfield's race seat is one of the best seats you can buy, regardless of what you want to use it for. I personally use MK Sportscars R500-a-like. And they are probabaly better than the Westfield seat for driver location, but the Westfield seat has a slight edge on comfort, although it is only slight... Quote
scruffythefirst Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 I have heard that mx5 seats will fit, might be a bit high up though. Quote
RobC Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 I run the padded race seats which are very comfy... Which was a suprise to me as they look like they are gonna cripple Quote
Bananaman Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 I'd get some R500 type seats and give them ago, everybody i know thinks there the dogs dangelies, you could always get some padded inserts made if you felt the need (however i know people who have driven for 8hrs down to Lemans in them with out dying... JeffC Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 had padded race seats but found them a pain if they get wet soggy isnt the answer now got the unpadded race seat and dont find em uncomfortable ,did a lot of miles in mine and ache free I got some removable pads made up for mine mainly to stop me slipping about on track days and they have done the trick nicely Quote
Shovey Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 has anyone got any pics factory shop doesn't show a picky Quote
Keith@FM Posted December 5, 2006 Author Posted December 5, 2006 I actually have MX-5 seats in my own car right now. I took the covers off and carved the foam to make them a little more, well, race-ish. They work pretty well, but they're heavier and taller than pukka race bits and they really don't like to get wet. Since I don't have any weather gear this is a problem. Hmm, maybe I could go with the uncovered version and save some dosh. I'd have to alter them regardless to suit my 6-point harnesses and possibly to fit into my car, so I'd been thinking of buying them with the covers not attached. Thanks for the input. scruffythefirst Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Well I've (and most of the cambs area) have MK grp seats. I've found mine really comfortable on long trips, great support, sit very low in the car. Quote
Bananaman Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 And 00921QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem" target="_blank">here's the place for pads if you need them Quote
farmer.palmer Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Scruffythefirst Do you have any pictures of the MK seat? Would they fit into a narrow bodied car? Width in narrow bodied car =390 mm betwwen chassis and transmission tunnel thanks james Quote
samcooke Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 They'll fit with plenty room. My Fury has a narrower cockpit than an SE and they go in that. About £100 each or another tenner if you want the carbon headrest. A proper Tillet R500 job is stiffer and lighter but not five times better IMHO. Ive done a 3 hour stint without complaint. Quote
farmer.palmer Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Does anybody have a pair of 'race' style seats for sale that would fit a nrrow bodied car? cheers james Quote
