tex Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 there is another alternative - use thin rubber sheet - bout 1mm - 2mm thick - it glues, cuts and bends easy - stones bounce off - water proof - cheap - i mean real cheap compared to the carbon ones!! bout a tenner for both arches - try woolies trim supplies - they sell by the meter. it will even polish with car wax shiny! oioi Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Whilst the standard designs do a good job of protecting the arch they do nothing to protect the 3 inches of the tub that takes a battering and it seems daft to spend a stack of money protecting the cheap and easily replacable arches without protecting the vastly more expensive and hard to replace tub. chris - this a thread about narrow cars. tub and arches are one and the same... (although your point is still valid about ensuring all the likely chip areas are protected) Quote
Jenko Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 I would advise using Sikaflex and not a standard silicone.....Sikaflex is very strong and if you make sure you have a few clamps handy you can stick it direct to the body work....no need for black as the you do not need to put it right on the edges, just put enough on so doesnt come over the edges......Most Chandleries will stock it as it's widely used in the marine industry.... Totally agree thats why I've gone for the clear 3M film. Buzz Quote
Steve20 Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Have been trying to find clear 3m stuff but without success, where do I get it from please? Quote
chappers Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Acording to the latest Westfield World, narrow body rear arch protectors are available (I assume in carbon effect) from, ESP plastics. Quote
langy Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 <<<<<<<< 3M sticky back carbon 'effect' sheet, it covers all of my nasty stone chips. Quote
