Hi all

Does anyone have any good ideas? I have some small and inefectual stone chip protectors on my rear arches. I have a narrow body SE. I have seen some that go all the way up in Carbon lookalike plastic, but these only appear to be for a wide body. Does anyone know if they will fit or are there any alternatives??

Many Thanks, all help gratefully recieved

i also have a narrow body westi ,Ive asked the same question too westfield but they tell me that even if you were to cut the part of that runs up the side of the car .they still wont fit the shape of the wing . the only thing i could think of carbon sheets and cut them to suit

if you come up with anything let me know some one must do something there's a market for them

Hi all

Does anyone have any good ideas?

Flexible proper carbon fibre sheet with 3M adhesive backing. You could even edge it if you wanted. Saw a westy with this on last month and it looked pretty good.

Thanks for the help guys, do you know where i might be able to get the sheet from??

I was thinking about doing chip guards that extend further up the arches on my narrow body.  Currently trying to decide between carbon fibre or ally.  Carbon fibre sheet vinyl and adhesive backed available on ebay:

There were discussions on here a few months back about someone speaking to a firm about producing narrow-bodied moulded carbon fibre chip gaurds but I think it fizzled out because the company showed no interest, which is a pity because there would be quite a number of takers probably.

Got a set for my fixed arch SEIW from Westfield in Carbon Effect plastic. I have the fitting kit of rivets and the rubber trim, but I am quite tempted by fitting them with Silicone without the trim as advised on the other techie thread about stoneguards. Has anyone got any advice especially a source of Black Silicone?

Cheers

Phil

Thanks Hammy :bangshead:

I have re-read the techie thread and it doesn't answer my questions....

Good Quality Black Silicone - where can I buy it?

How much do I need?

Do I need to prep the arch in any way?

How long will it take to stick fully?

Any tips for holding it on whilst it sticks?

Thanks Phil

builders merchant - I'll probably use clear as I'm hoping it won't be visible anyway (the edging should hide any silicon)

I've never done this before, but... I'll buy a tube and try and see  how I go.  [Clean surfaces first with meths]I won't use a huge amount as otherwise getting the things off will be impossible

I'll use lots of tape heavy objects,  G- clamps etc as needed to hold in place until  it goes off - if the fit is good this shouldn't be a problem

BTW i'm looking at the arch protectors mentioned on the tech forum , which wrap around the arch and are not flat sheet - hence my mention of it.  not sure how I'd stick flat sheet, I'd proablably use  a thin layer of evo stick, but others may have better ideas

3M stone chip protector in clear they come in various widths and lengths a bit pricy but it works + the look better than those ugly wheel arch protectors that don't fit that well

I ended up making a mould and then making my own arch protectors as i was unhappy with all the current designs that are out there.  Whilst the standard designs do a good job of protecting the arch they do nothing to protect the 3 inches of the tub that takes a battering and it seems daft to spend a stack of money protecting the cheap and easily replacable arches without protecting the vastly more expensive and hard to replace tub.

Perhaps I'm just overly sensitive due to the additional grief that the type-approved bodywork causes but I would love for one of the people out there selling arch protectors commercially to do some that covered the part of the tub in question.
