Numptie Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 To save me from blue book agony, can anyone advise if PROBAN suits will be acceptable for speed events in 2007? I'm thinking of something like this. This is for someone who might be double driving my car at a few events next season and might pack it up if they don't like it. It's going to be a Christmas present to him from someone with a budget. The fact that it will be a Christmas present procludes the option of a second hand purchase. I'd rather not get in to a safety debate here if you don't mind. All I'm after is an answer to the question. Thanks, Eric Quote
Martin Keene Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Yes. Proban is acceptable for Speed Events, I use one. I have heard it said that Scrutinieers (spelling?) actually prefer Proban to single layer Nomex as it is more resistant to tearing, rips, snagging, etc. Quote
funbobby Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Yep they are fine. Only things apparently is if you wash them. Proban is a coating or similar whereas Nomex is in the material itself and have a better life span. I got my Double layer Nomex of Ebay for about 50 quid in good Nick and its done me fine so far. I think Slippy got a triple in just as good Nick for about the same too. Quote
Numptie Posted November 29, 2006 Author Posted November 29, 2006 Perfect! - thanks guys. Cheers, Eric Quote
